Death Battle Predictions: Omni-Man VS Bardock

Disclaimer: This blog is not meant to take credit for the G1 blog’s amazing work over the years. We have been working on this blog long before the episode was announced officially under the Death Battle Kickstarter campaign, and have been working hard ever since with research to try and get this put out before the episode now. If G1 still decides to make a blog for this matchup even with this blog’s existence, then they’re more than welcome to. This is simply a passion project that we did not want to put to a stop because of the episode becoming official. We are not attempting to replace G1, this is simply a poor case of bad timing and similar ideas. That is all.

Also, #savedeathbattle.

My Mother gave me my drive, but my Father gave me my dreams. Thanks to him, I could see a future.” Liza Minneli

Nowl’Ahn, former hardened Viltrumite warlord turned loving father, husband, and protector of the universe; Omni-Man.

Bardock, the low-class Saiyan warrior of the Frieza Force who saw a future worth fighting for as The Legendary Super Saiyan.

We are all familiar with the alien invader concept. Those green-headed, slender and uncanny men in UFOs coming to our lone Planet to become a part of something better…or die. But in some cases, there may be aliens who choose to live among us, becoming caught up in the bindings of everyday human life, and maybe in the process, learn a thing or two about what it means to be human. For these two, all it took to turn against their brutal and cold superiors was seeing the future of what their seemingly weak and powerless sons would become; the answer to all living things that cry out for peace. Not only did they see the error of their ways in mercilessly wiping out innocent civilizations by the command of their intergalactic regimes, but also found something better in the love of their sons; a future worth fighting for.

Will The Great Nowl’Ahn make this low-class Saiyan regret ever interfering with his Planet and family, or will Bardock change the future forever by taking on and defeating Nolan and the rest of the Viltrum Empire once and for all? Prepare to have your minds blown in the universe’s greatest DEATH BATTLE!

Before We Start…

As a major disclaimer, this blog will be going into the entirety of the Invincible comic run, and as such, a massive spoiler warning is being placed under effect. The Invincible storyline has concluded in the comics, meaning many major events in which the animated series most are familiar with has yet to adapt, will be fully spoiled in this blog. If you do not wish to be spoiled by Invincible's storyline, you can either avoid reading this blog all-together or skip to the verdict section, which is largely spoiler free. Additionally, given the extremely violent and gory nature of Invincible battle scenes, many scans, gifs, and images pertaining to Omni-Man’s various feats and battles will contain extremely gory and graphic violence which is NSFW. If this subject matter makes you uncomfortable, this blog likely isn’t for you. Again, you can either avoid reading it entirely or skip to the verdict section which hardly contains said graphic material.

Other than that, we will be soft-compositing both characters. This means that for Omni-Man, as mentioned above, we will be including the entirety of the mainline Invincible storyline, as well as the animated series available on Amazon Prime. While the animated series does have many clear and distinct changes from the comics, it is still written and produced by Robert Kirkman, who also created and wrote for the Invincible comic run as well. Furthermore, we will also be including most if not all crossover storylines in which Invincible characters appear in. This at first glance may appear non-canon or unfair, however writer Robert Kirkman fully considers all of these crossovers entirely canon to the mainline Invincible story. Not just this, but given the fact the Multiverse very much exists within Invincible due to characters such as Angstrom Levy, it is not at all a farfetched assumption to believe these crossovers took place somewhere in Invincible’s multiverse. Even if these were completely alternate versions of the characters, the Invincible War story arc which took place between Invincible Vol 1. #60 - #65 proves that the alternate iterations of characters, in this case Mark, all clearly scale to one another in physical capabilities. The Invincible War story arc also included many other characters from the wider Image Comics cosmology. However, there will be some exceptions to characters that we can scale the cast, and by extension Omni-Man to. For one, Spawn. While Spawn does appear in the Invincible War storyline, it’s very unlikely that this event is canon within Spawn’s wider universe. Firstly, the existence of other heroes, very crucial and important within the Invincible universe which would clearly be important on a global scale, are not even remotely mentioned or implied to exist at any point ever on Spawn’s version of Earth. Likewise, very important and crucial events within Spawn’s storyline are not ever mentioned nor implied to exist within Invincible’s storyline, outside of the appearance and participation of James Downing, Al Simmons’ successor. On that topic, James Downing also would likely not scale to Al Simmon’s greater accomplishments anyway, so even if we were to scale Invincible characters to James’ Spawn, the version which appears in the Invincible War storyline, that doesn’t mean they would scale to Al Simmons, who has the most impressive scaling out of any other Hellspawn. Other than Spawn, one character from Image’s wider cosmology, who Omni-Man has directly battled with and even had the upper hand over, Supreme, is a character we (debatably) cannot fully scale Omni-Man to. However, there are arguments to be made for both viewpoints regarding scaling Omni-Man to Supreme, which will be discussed later in this blog. Finally, Omni-Man will not be given any sort of scaling to any character within the Mortal Kombat franchise. This game is clearly non-canon towards Invincible in any capacity and is a far different case from the crossover comics. It could theoretically fit within the crossover storylines

For Bardock, we will also be using a soft-composited version of him. He will be given the original anime film; Dragon Ball Z: Bardock - The Father of Goku, Dragon Ball: Episode of Bardock, as well as the canon films and manga chapters pertaining to Dragon Ball Super: Broly. He however will not be given any sort of content or scaling to the Dragon Ball Heroes or Dragon Ball Xenoverse titles. While Bardock does appear very prominently within these games, he is almost an entirely different character with an entirely different powerset. And also, admittedly, giving Bardock these games would make this matchup a very clear and obvious win in Bardock’s favor, given that the cosmologies of both Dragon Ball Heroes and Xenoverse are far more vast and expansive than both versions of Dragon Ball’s cosmology, not to mention having a very large variety of hax which would easily be able to defeat Omni-Man. At first glance, we should also not give him the original film as well as the Episode of Bardock special due to the Toei Animation films no longer being canon towards Dragon Ball’s storyline. However, Bardock is a character who was introduced and is largely more prominent within the Toei Animation films than he is in Dragon Ball’s canon story. The Canon iteration of Bardock that appears in Dragon Ball Super: Broly is largely featless outside of a singular statement of him being a low-class warrior, likely not scaling him to anything major if at all within Dragon Ball’s canon. We will however still be taking Canon into account when scaling Bardock to certain characters, we will just be largely focusing on the Toei animation films for Bardock’s character in this blog. Finally, giving Bardock the Super Saiyan form may also seem like a stretch given how much the Episode of Bardock special contradicts the ending of both canonicities of Bardock’s backstory, however this is not entirely the case. For starters, the Episode of Bardock special does not have Bardock survive the attack on Planet Vegeta. Rather, it sends him back in time far enough to a point before Planet Vegeta was overtaken by the Saiyan race at all. This would at minimum mean Bardock would have had to have been sent at least 190 years in the past, meaning without a way to return to the future, Bardock would have likely have died of old age many years before Frieza and King Cold had even discovered the Saiyan race. Secondly, with how time travel operates in the Dragon Ball franchise, it’s more likely Bardock going back in time and defeating Chilled created a separate timeline, rather than changing the main timeline we’re all familiar with’s future and removing Bardock’s presence. Additionally, fighting games such as Dragon Ball FighterZ’s victory animation for Bardock defeating Frieza shows us Bardock becoming a Super Saiyan in order to do so, meaning that the usage of this transformation is at least somewhat grounded in official continuity by Toei Animation as well as Dragon Ball creators. This is even supported by a secret ending of Bardock defeating Frieza in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2’s DLC, in which Bardock again becomes a Super Saiyan to do so. While this game is clearly separate from both main Dragon Ball continuities, this still shows us a reasonable alternate possible future that could have occurred in Dragon Ball continuity. It’s just simply that the events afterwards of Bardock becoming a Time Breaker are not considered when taking that possibility into account. In short, using Super Saiyan for Bardock has no reasonable contradictions, is supported in many official material as a viable form for Bardock to access, and is not at all anything that couldn’t have logically occurred in alternate timelines in Dragon Ball, all of which cannot be said for the Time Breaker form for Bardock, which is only prominent within a single explicitly separate continuity of Dragon Ball.

With that being said, we will be covering some of Omni-Man and Bardock’s movesets in both Mortal Kombat 1 and Dragon Ball FighterZ, Dragon Ball Heroes, and Dragon Ball Xenoverse 1-2, as those aren’t explicitly contradicted as existing in canon and also in fact reflect canonicity, we just won’t be scaling either character to either franchise due to them at that point, being entirely different characters, which takes a lot of the fun out of discussing their feats and scaling. Further elaboration will be listed in their power set discussion here.

Background

Omni-Man

Witness the Viltru-MIGHT of Mark Grayson’s alien super-dad!

What I did on Earth, the pain and destruction I caused was immeasurable. What I did to those people... what I did to my son. I deserve death. And yet... I think... I miss my wife.

Millions of miles from here, out in deep space; is the planet Viltrum. It’s a cool, blue, oasis out in a solar system much like our own. Millennia ago, the planet’s ruler and at the time strongest of all Viltrumites; King Argall, was inexplicably assassinated by the hands of an unknown, rogue Viltrumite assailant. The death of their leader forced the species to evolve in a startling way, and over the course of thousands upon thousands of years, the Viltrumite race would grow into among the mightiest alien species in the known universe, and in the process, created a utopia for their species. However, the thought of their place in the universe and the society they built left the species to ponder about what life is like out in the rest of the expansive universe. All of the countless, millions upon billions of planets with suffering, underdeveloped species, ravaged by war, and on the verge of collapse, would eventually lead to the Viltrumites coming together to create “the world betterment program”, sending their own soldiers across the cosmos in order to make the universe a better place.

…at least, that’s the story that veteran Viltrumite, the great Nowl’Ahn, told the people of planet Earth, under the guise of its most powerful protector; Omni-Man. Omni-Man during his time on Earth did far more than nearly any other superhero on the planet had ever dreamed of. Battling nightmares from the deep, alien tyrants, and even ancient gods, Omni-Man was undoubtedly Earth’s greatest soldier. Ally to The Guardians of the Globe, number one client of Art Rosenbaum, and Cecil Stedman’s top line of defense, rest assured, the planet Earth could sleep easy under the Viltrumite warrior’s watchful eye. All the while, Omni-Man lived the double life of the writer and family man of Nolan Grayson, loving husband to Debbie Grayson and the proud father of his son; Mark. And eventually, at the age of 17, Mark Grayson would end up following in his father’s footsteps after gaining superpowers of his own, becoming what he always wanted to be; the newest and mightiest superhero; Invincible

And then…

The Guardians of the Globe were dead. Viciously, ruthlessly slaughtered in their own headquarters one by one. Who could have done this, much less with this much ferocity? Who on Earth is so strong, so powerful, that they could…

The Global Defense Agency, along with the rest of the world, would have to move on as best as they could, all the while the demon detective Damien Darkblood was on the case to find the killer hidden in plain sight. The up-and-coming hot new team of superheroes; the teen team, and their leader, Robot, would work to recruit a new Guardians of the Globe. Rex Splode, Atom Eve, Dupli-Kate, Black Samson, Shrinking Rae, and of course; Invincible. The death of the guardians of the globe would be the turning point in both Mark and his father’s life. Mark would slowly discover the strength of his Viltrumite heritage during his work as a superhero, while Nolan…had to come to terms with telling his family what he was really here for. Eventually, while on a mission to stop a kaiju named “Hail Mary”, Omni-Man would have to face off against the Guardians of The Globe’s former leader; The Immortal.

And after witnessing his father brutally kill the Immortal a second time, Mark, along with the rest of the world, would finally learn the horrible truth. Omni-Man wasn’t who he said he was.

In reality, the “utopia” that the Viltrumites created could only be made after hundreds upon thousands of years of in-fighting between the species, practically cutting their population in half. But what emerged from the rubble of the fighting was truly unstoppable. With the only Viltrumites left being the only absolute strongest and under the leadership of the brutal, insurmountably powerful Grand Regent Thragg, Viltrumites needed to remain the strongest species in the universe by any means necessary, in order to ensure both their survival and their incredible strength.

And by the time Nolan, or rather, Nowl’Ahn was born, Viltrum was already the greatest empire in the galaxy. And to make sure they kept it that way, they had to make sure that they were the only empire in the galaxy. They would invade all other planets and force them into becoming a part of their empire, or die if said planet resisted doing so. Eventually, Viltrum’s forces were stretched thin and considered their methods of brute forcing invasions to be too inefficient. So, they would instead decide to send only one of their soldiers to one planet at a time, as, due to how strong the species are, that’s all that was truly needed. And that is when the infamous soldier of Viltrum Nowl’An decided to take on Earth, wearing down its defenses by gaining their people’s trust, only to prepare for a full-scale Viltrumite invasion when that trust was unbreakable. Which Earth towards Omni-Man, at this point in time, was.

Mark, horrified and refusing to believe his father’s true intentions, tried desperately to reason with him. To appeal to the “humanity” that he supposedly gained during his time on Earth. But try as he would, Nolan’s loyalty to the Viltrum empire, apparently, prevailed. Nolan would try initially to indoctrinate his son into becoming a Viltrumite, but Mark’s humanity, true to his superhero name, was; Invincible. And his spirit was more so. After Nolan, well…taught his son a lesson, to say the least, Mark stayed firm in his refusal to back down from protecting the Earth from the Viltrum empire, even if he had to stand up to his father to do so. But, in truth, the only one who would learn a lesson on that fateful day; was Nolan. When he saw the bloodied, broken face of his son that he caused, after all of that, still proclaimed his love for him, all he could do was fly away with tears in his eyes, unable to confront the truth that he tried for so long to hide; he loved his family.

Knowing his “weakness” to truly go through with preparing Earth for Viltrum takeover would lead to his execution at the hands of his Viltrumite superiors, Nolan fled to a distant planet in the virgo supercluster in an attempt to conquer it to slightly lessen his punishment. But in that week-long time, the only thing Nolan could think about was the life he left behind. The family who loved him, and the planet which made him human, that he could never return to. Luckily, he was able to get that off his mind when he was discovered drifting through space by the benevolent yet short-lived Thraxan species. After the Thraxans discovered his astronomical lifespan, he was immediately crowned ruler of the planet due to his sheer experience. In that time, Nolan would start a new family with the Thraxan queen Andressa, and have another son; Oliver.

It was only a matter of time, however, before Viltrumite officers arrived at Thraxa to apprehend Nolan due to his betrayal. Given no other choice to protect his new family, Nolan had to call to the planet the current protector of Earth, and also the person he just beat to a bloody pulp; his son. Tricked into coming to the planet by a Thraxan disguised as Mark’s favorite comic book hero, Mark would initially refuse to ever see his father again. Yet when Mark saw his new baby brother, he knew there was no way he could have let the Thraxan people die. But it was too late, as Viltrum had already arrived. After fighting off and seemingly killing the Viltrumite Lucan, Mark and Nolan would win the day…until they didn’t. Lucan survived, literally holding his guts in from falling out with his hand, mortally wounding Nolan enough to be captured and taken into Viltrum custody to get ready for execution.

But before Nolan was taken away, he left one final piece of advice towards Mark which would be crucial in defeating the Viltrum empire. You see, during Nolan’s time on Earth, he was an avid writer. But not of the type of novels you’d expect from a middle-aged American father. Rather, the books he wrote over those years were documenting his various experiences and encounters on other planets, its various alien species, and the many formidable warriors he encountered in that time. Nolan disguised these as simple works of science fiction, but when it came time for the Viltrumite War, these became all but science fact. After having to fight off many Viltrumites attempting to further coerce him into serving the Viltrum empire, Mark would use the information gathered from those books to eventually bring together the mightiest of warriors in the universe and the only beings out there capable of challenging or even defeating a Viltrumite in battle, coming together as a part of the universe-wide resistance against Viltrum’s forces; the coalition of planets. And after Nolan escaped custody alongside the notorious Allen the Alien, Nolan, Mark, and the now fully-grown Oliver, alongside the coalition of planets allied together under the first Viltrumite rebel Thaedus, beginning the first Viltrumite War.

The battle was fierce beyond words, but both sides failed to gain an upper hand over the other. That was until the massive turning point of the war, when the coalition of planets decided there was only one way to stop Viltrumites for good. Using Space Racer’s immensely powerful gun to destabilize it’s core, Mark, Nolan, and Thaedus would charge straight into the Viltrum’s surface and destroy the entire planet. This attack would result in the war ending in a truce, with the remaining 37 Viltrumites in existence fleeing to live on Earth to reproduce with its population enough to ensure their species’ survival. And over the course of 5 years, the now exiled Viltrumite leader Grand Regent Thragg would grow an army of half-breed thraxan-viltrumites to use against the now emperor of Viltrum; Nolan, who turned out to be the heir to former King Argall. With Nolan and his family fully reunited after Mark’s return from a five-year long time jump, the combined forces of Thragg and Nolan would face off in one final, climactic battle for the fate of the universe.

Nolan fought valiantly, but the former Grand Regent’s might was too much for him. Nolan was mortally wounded to a point beyond what a Viltrumite’s accelerated healing factor could repair. Nolan ultimately chose to die to the Viltrum empire for the love of his son, his wife, and the life he found on Earth. Mark ended up avenging his father’s life by killing Thragg on the surface of the sun, but the burns he suffered couldn’t compare to the impact of what his father said to him on his deathbed. Nolan thanked Mark for changing his life for the better, and then entrusted him with doing that for the rest of the universe. Now emperor of Viltrum, Mark would spend the rest of his days turning Viltrum into exactly the type of species his father once told him they were as a child. With an immortal and loving wife in Samantha Eve Wilkins and two beautiful children in Markus and Terra Grayson, and after centuries of stopping planetary conflicts and spreading peace throughout the universe, Mark could only look back to ponder words his father told him all those years ago on that fateful day; what will you have in 500 years? Heh.

Bardock

So you’re SAIYAN Bardock is Goku's Dad???

This is it. This will change everything. The fate of Planet Vegeta, my own fate, the fate of Kakarot and also, your fate as well! This ends now!!!

For several millions of years, the tenacity and pure, unadulterated power of the mighty, monkey-tailed warrior race known as the Saiyans was completely unmatched. With a power level high enough to effortlessly decimate planets and the ability to dramatically grow more powerful after recovering from near fatal injuries, the Saiyans’ drive for power dominated the universe. Like cosmic stockbrokers, the Saiyans’ primary goal was to take over lone planets in the universe, put them in the cosmic stock market for sale, and sell them to the highest bidder. This started when their natural instinct of battle ended up destroying their home planet Sadala, leading them to take over a distant planet in the north galaxy which would later come to be known as the planet Vegeta. Several thousands of years later, the role of king to the Saiyan race would eventually be passed down to the fittingly named ruler; King Vegeta. Everything changed, however, the day that the cosmic tyrant King Cold and his son, Frieza, found the Saiyan race and forced them into becoming a part of their own interstellar empire. With the two tyrants’ power level being astronomically higher than even the likes of King Vegeta himself, the Saiyans had but no choice but to pledge their loyalty to the king and his son. Thus, the Saiyan race would become the top of the line soldiers of the Frieza force.

Amongst the many elite, highly-powerful and skilled warriors in the Saiyan army, it would be one low-class warrior who would change the fate of the Saiyan race forever; Bardock. Bardock made a living by decimating the defenses of planets to prepare them for sale in Frieza’s planetary stock market, alongside his comrades; Tora, Fasha, Borgos, and Shugesh. Like all Saiyans, Bardock, at the time, cared about one thing and one thing only, and that was his insatiable hunger for battle. So much so, that he remembered literally every single second of every single battle he’s ever been in…yet, had his mind crowded by fighting so much that he couldn’t even remember the birth of his newborn son; Kakarot. And in Saiyan tradition, and to serve their duties to the Frieza Force, Saiyans at birth are sent out into deep space to distant planets, in order to devastate all life on them, to prepare for the Frieza force’s inevitable takeover. And the infant Kakarot was no different, being readied to be sent to a planet known as Earth, to devastate all life upon it. Bardock, however, couldn’t care less of his son’s departure, nor had the time to pay him a visit.

Bardock instead was too busy with his latest assignment; destroying all life on the planet Kanassa. This planet had long been on the Frieza’s force’s radar due to its exceptionally high deposits of secret cosmic energy, which had been causing the Kanassan species to develop telekinetic abilities that allow them to see into the future. Frieza, being the power-hungry tyrannical warlord that he is, wanted this power all to himself. Yet not a single one of his Saiyan underlings, nor the other powerful alien species under Lord Frieza’s command, stepped up to the task due to the species' surprising power level, leaving the mission in the pool…up until now.

Unbeknownst to Bardock and his allies, the Kanassan people’s telekinetic abilities had allowed them to foresee the coming genocide; on a night of a full moon. And of course, the Kanassans’ prediction would be correct, as shortly after, Bardock’s Elite arrived. The Kanassans are no cowards, though, as they had been preparing for the incoming attack on their world thanks to their future vision. This was enough to give Bardock and his crew trouble, enough trouble to result in a days long battle between the Kanassans and the platoon of low-class Saiyans. Bardock and his crew would hold off the Kanassans for days on end, biding their time until the night in which the full moon of Kanassa arises, allowing them to unleash the legendary power of the Great Ape, ensuring the planet’s destruction. Just as the Kanassans had foreseen, upon the night of a full moon, their planet would be completely decimated at the hands of their monkey-tailed invaders. With the planet in ruins and seemingly completely devoid of all life, Bardock, Tora, Fasha, Borgos, and Shugesh would rest up and celebrate their victory…

That is, until a lone surviving Kanassan attacked. Landing a blow on Bardock’s neck, the Kanassan by the name of Toolo gave Bardock the ability that his frost demon superior sought out; the power to see the future. The Kanassan left parting words that, at the time, seemed like empty threats, but were instead a warning of the horror about to come; the end of the Saiyan race…by the hands of Lord Frieza himself. Right before his own eyes, Bardock saw it.

However, Bardock didn’t give these visions the time of day, brushing them off simply as delusions in his fatigue. He would then make short work of the surviving Kanassan with a full power energy wave, and thus, the Kanassan species had finally, truly been defeated, paving the way for Frieza’s takeover of the planet. Yet, little did Bardock and his friends know, but just then, in the depths of space, the fate of the Saiyan race was already being decided. In Lord Frieza’s spaceship, Frieza’s two most elite soldiers and right-hand men; Zarbon and Dodoria, had already discovered what Bardock and his band of low-class Saiyans had accomplished in just a few days on Kanassa. Quickly informing Lord Frieza of the matter, Frieza felt something for the first time in his life ever; fear

The best of the best amongst Frieza’s ranks were unable to take Kanassa for several months on end, yet a band of low-class, weak Saiyans were able to do so in just a few days. This meant only one thing. That, true to the Saiyan race’s nature, that their power was growing extremely quickly. Quickly enough that, any day now, Frieza and his men knew that the Saiyans would inevitably surpass him. And, given the first opportunity they had, would betray him in a heartbeat, according to what Frieza and his men believed. Despite all the immense amount of power he had, Frieza had one fatal flaw to him. He was, deep down, a coward. Thus, the only way to truly make sure that the Saiyans would never pose a threat to him ever, there was only one option necessary; genocide. And for the first Saiyans to go, it would be the band of low-class Saiyans they just found out annihilated Kanassa. Dodoria and his elite fighters were assigned to the task.

Lord Frieza’s true power, being unleashed upon the planet Vegeta. And the entire Saiyan race was caught in it, dying to Frieza’s hand…or rather, finger, as that’s all it took for him to wipe them all out, like the monkeys they are ... ..or now, were.

Yet there was one Saiyan unaccounted for. That Saiyan being the infant who had just been sent out into the Galaxy to the planet Earth; Bardock’s son, Kakarot. But instead of destroying the human race, Kakarot’s true destiny was revealed. Frieza’s genocide upon the Saiyan race would not go unpunished, as Bardock would witness right before his eyes, his very own son, in his adult years, would become one of the mightiest warriors in the universe.

Bardock brushed these visions off as simple delusions in his fatigue, and after making short work of Toolo with a full power energy wave, Bardock would return back home to Planet Vegeta. Upon arriving and being tended to by its planet's doctors, a startling revelation was made. Bardock’s power level was increasing dramatically, quickly approaching extremely close to having a power level of 10,000, close to surpassing King Vegeta himself. Meanwhile, Bardock’s friends would already be assigned to their next mission; clearing the civilization of the Planet Meat. Upon arrival, they are met with the appearance of what they know infamously as one of Frieza’s most dangerous men; Dodoria, along with his elite warrior underlings of various other species.

While still recuperating, Bardock would be informed of the latest offer his friends have taken up. Ignoring his still injured state, he quickly rushed off to the Planet Meat in order to pursue and join his friends there, but not before stopping a moment to glance at his son, only moments before he was to be sent off into the universe. Pondering the vision of his son becoming a warrior of legend, Bardock would take a look at his newborn son one last time before heading off. Upon arriving, Bardock was horrified to see that his friends…were all dead. Slaughtered by none other…than Dodoria, and his band of elite fighters. However, Tora, one of Bardock’s most esteemed friends, managed to survive, albeit in critical condition. In his friends’ final moment, Bardock would make a vow to avenge his comrades’ life. With the now blood-soaked headband on his friend, Bardock, in a blind fury, charged at, and nearly immediately defeated all of Dodoria’s fighters with relative ease.

Yet Dodoria himself was a completely different matter. Being one of Frieza’s top henchmen, of course, meant that a single mouth blast from Dodoria was enough to immediately incapacitate Bardock, leaving him mortally wounded. Barely surviving the attack, Bardock is left to come to terms with the horrible truth; that the visions he saw were not of delirium, but premonitions of the brutal fate to come of the Saiyan race. Immediately returning to Planet Vegeta to warn his people of the coming armageddon, Bardock is laughed off, being seen as paranoid and crazed due to his latest mission. Lashing out at his race for their disbelief, Bardock’s true Saiyan rage would finally manifest itself in full; right as Frieza’s spaceship descended from the skies.

With one last chance to change the fate of the Saiyans, himself, and his son forever, Bardock takes to the skies to meet Frieza’s armada himself, and personally challenge all of them for the fate of his people. On that day, Bardock took on, and managed to defeat, over hundreds of Frieza’s most elite soldiers, all at once, all by himself. In fact, Bardock realized in that final assault that it was not just his people who had been wronged by Frieza, but the entirety of the universe and every planet under his thumb. And for that, Bardock vowed not only to avenge the death of his friends, but all of the beings in the universe who fell victim to Frieza’s cause, and forcing himself and the Saiyan race to be pawns in doing so.

Now making it clear to Frieza and the Saiyan people that are now and forever free of Frieza’s command and oppression, Bardock prepares one final attack to end this forever; Final Spirit Cannon. Yet Bardock’s efforts, as valiant as they were, were ultimately in vain. In response to Bardock preparing his ultimate attack, Lord Frieza simply laughed and lifted his finger. And in doing so, unleashed a ball of energy which effortlessly wiped out the Planet Vegeta, and as a result, the entire Saiyan race, just as the visions Bardock saw predicted.

But the death of the Saiyan race wasn’t the only premonition that would come true. Engulfed by the blast and quickly being incinerated by it, Bardock was met with one final vision; his son’s true destiny. Not only would his son be a mighty warrior, he was, in actuality, the Super Saiyan. Bardock’s son would be the one to avenge the Saiyan race and the rest of the universe by finally bringing an end to Frieza’s reign of terror once and for all. In his final moments, all Bardock could do is smile, knowing that his son would accomplish this not as the planet-conquering, tenaciously prideful, monkey-tailed warlord warrior Kakarot, but as a man who proved, even to the god themselves, that there is no limit that cannot be overcome; Son Goku

Experience and Skill

Omni-Man

Martial Arts Mastery

As expected from an elite class Viltrumite, who impressed his superior officers and has lived for over 2,000 years, Nolan is an expert at combat. Visually speaking, he’s been shown to use punches, grabs, takedowns, neck cranks, knife hands, can use a club and could read people’s next movements. He's pretty accustomed to fighting multiple people at once, kicking and throwing them away. Being so much superior to mostly everyone in the series it’s very rare we see Nolan showcase his combat skills against opponents who didn’t get effortlessly washed. However Viltrumites are still considered as the most “unstoppable” species in the galaxy by the coalition of planets and Allen the alien both in strength and combat skill, Allen was born and bred for combat to fight Viltrumites and Battle Beast is part of a species stated to master all forms of hand to hand and weaponry combat to peak performance. Nolan having held his own in close quarters combat and earning the respect of Thragg as “worthy to rule the Viltrumite Empire” proves his scaling much to merit as Thragg is educated in all forms of combat. With all this in mind, Nolan’s intelligence in battle is nothing to scoff at; his novels are full of information about everything he’s come across on his journeys around the universe, even utilizing scientific theories in the moment to understand the strengths and weaknesses of species and objects.

Bardock

Martial Arts Mastery

Bardock’s fighting style resembles Karate while also outsmarting Frieza’s elite soldiers using smoke as camouflage to make them hit each other, visually speaking the Saiyan race appear to utilize Boxing,Karate and Kickboxing techniques with other sources claiming Saiyans have “strong grip strength” for combat making them potent in Judo/Wrestling (Bardock does know how to use headlocks) and lots of acrobatics (Bardock does know how to twirl), real world professional trainers comment that Vegeta’s fighting style is composed of Boxing, Muay Thai, Karate and Wrestling and his combat origins all come from Planet Vegeta however his combat capabilities are more than likely higher than this as after having close quarters combat exchange with Goku during the Saiyan Saga, Goku states Vegeta’s technique in fighting surpasses his. Goku was trained at a very young age in all forms of martial arts by Grandpa Gohan, Gohan being taught and considered the #1 pupil of Master Roshi and Master Roshi states Goku’s combat skill surpassed his own eversince he was a kid, as you can guess Roshi is also a master of all martial arts. Considering King Vegeta was known as a genius for strategies and combat tactics everything adds up as to how deadly the Saiyans are in combat both power wise and skill wise.

Techniques

Wild Sense: A different version of the “Afterimage Technique” that allows the user to counter attack the opponent from behind
Dragon Throw: Grabs his opponent and spins them around at high speeds before releasing them
Body Impact: Bardock lands a heavy body blow in the solar plexus of the opponent leaving them stunned temporarily
Final Revenger: Bardock unleashes an onslaught of wild attacks filled with the fury he felt for his fallen comrades
Impact Strike: Lands a heavy body blow, vanishes at high speeds behind his opponent to smack them down and then follows them to land 3 more right hooks
Rebellion Rush: A barrage of punches followed by a spinning punch
Super Rebellion Rush: A stronger version of his Rebellion Rush while using his saiyan spirit energy
Limit Breaker Rebellion Rush: A Rebellion Rush using power beyond his limits to defeat the opponent

Equipment

Omni-Man

Super Hero Suit

Despite its initial appearance as a standard superhero outfit, it surprisingly is much more resilient than your average piece of fabric and cloth. Designed meticulously by world-renowned superhero suit designer Art Rosenbaum, the entire suit is created from Smart Atoms and has been shown to handle heat from lasers, higher levels of heat generated by friction and it’s primarily cleaned with ionic cleaning machines.

Telepathic Earpieces

As you would expect from an Alien race of conquerors who have battled many types of species across the galaxy, Nolan has a method to mimic what a Unopan can do. These earpieces allow him to talk with people telepathically like Allen because you can’t hear much in the vacuum of space.

Bardock

Scouter

These iconic devices are notably used by the Saiyan race that were first used by the Tuffles, they track energy/power level readings, they can do this automatically while also giving away their exact location & distance as well as their velocity. They can be used to keep track of time (via a timer), talk over with other scouter users like a phone as well as send information to one another. Bardock’s scouter is an old model scouter that will explode if the power level reading is over 21,000.

Saiyan Battle Armor

The material that makes these battle outfits are supposedly an “advanced rubber composite” based on Captain Ginyu. They are made to stretch and fit saiyans once they transform into their great ape forms alongside making it easier to fight and move freely with protection by absorbing any physical hits and dissipating damage from energy attacks. Bardock’s suit is clearly one of the older models but it’s for “elites”.

Abilities

Omni-Man

Viltrumite Physiology

As we know, Omni-Man is a Viltrumite and they are one of the most powerful alien species in the universe. Viltrumites are alien conquerors, and they have the standard powerset of super strength and speed, but they also have extended lifespan, being able to live for thousands of years by aging at a decelerated rate and as a result grow more powerful with age, their DNA allow them to aggressively self-repair and adapt as well as help them survive near-death experiences which increases their already crazy strength. Their bodies are also vacuum resistant and they can hold their breath for a total of 2 weeks straight which is perfect for space travel and they can even hold it in during combat. Makes sense considering their bodies can also survive without oxygen for an extended period of time.

Smart Atoms

Viltrumites, along with many other powerful characters in the Invinicble universe, can manipulate the atoms in their bodies, referred to as “Smart Atoms”. Smart Atoms allows Viltrumites to adjust/adapt their bodies based on the user’s condition as well as the environment they are in. For instance, any time Mark travels in space or when Nolan holds his breath in space their lungs are changed to absorb more energy from the smallest amount of oxygen stored in their bodies, requiring much less to breathe. They are also used to form a force-field around their bodies for protection from the heat and friction. Smart Atoms can also be used to absorb the energy of the environment known as “Background Energy” in this series which is the cosmic energy/zero-point energy of empty spaces which gives resistances to the scientific negative effects of wormholes,time/dimensional travel, cloning, force fields, inertial flux and unnecessary increased mass.

Graviton Atoms

Nolan’s superhuman physical capabilities and ability to fly are all connected through him utilizing “Graviton Atoms”. Gravitons are a type of energy that hold the universal gravitational field of attraction between all matter. However Nolan can remove this gravitational field in order to levitate and fly at high-speeds, and can also tell the exact location of invisible enemies nearby.

Shockwave Manipulation

As shown in the gif above, Nolan is capable of performing the iconic “Thunder Clap” which generates a large shockwave destroying large amounts of rubble in its path.

Healing Factor

Coupled with Viltrumite’s absurd levels of endurance; comes their healing factor. Can heal from a fractured skull and broken bones in 3 days, Being turned into a bloody mess and having their guts ripped out, They can survive being damaged in ways that would kill any normal person as long as their brain & heart aren’t severely damaged or destroyed. Nolan can survive having his chest torn through and his eye gouged out and Mark could survive being burned down to the meat of his body and completely charred in only a few days. Course its speed does have a limit, in fact the more severe the injury is the longer it takes to heal, like when it took Mark months to recover from having his guts torn out after fighting Conquest.

Bardock

Saiyan Physiology

Saiyans are a powerful warrior race in the world of Dragon Ball and have been feared throughout the universe. They are naturally superhuman with immense power, speed and enhanced senses capable of finding small objects from far distances with just their scent, naturally see from far distances that human’s can’t properly see from, can read their opponent’s next move and can tell when they're holding back. They’re bodies remain child-like before growing fast into adulthood and they are much much slower compared to the human race, making them have longer lifespans compared to them allowing them to fight in their prime for decades to come. They are built for evolution which allows them to grow over the course of battle which increases their efficiency and even in dire circumstances they can break their limits mid-battle with ease even allowing saiyans to copy techniques after only seeing them once, this adaptability stems in combat skills as despite Goku having been taught all forms of martial arts by Grandpa Gohan (who was taught by Master Roshi) and being as less experienced & knowledgeable in combat as Roshi he kept pace with him in close quarters combat as their fight escalated. Bardock is a strong Saiyan warrior and he can grow stronger after surviving a near-death experience this is called a Zenkai Boost and due to his Saiyan biology he also has a tail which can not only be used in combat but is required for the great ape transformation.

Flight

Bardock can use his ki to take to the skies and fly at insanely fast speeds, it’s pretty self explanatory.

Ki Manipulation

Like most Dragon Ball characters, Bardock can manifest his innate life energy into a form of Ki and manipulate it as much as he wants. Ki grants Bardock a wide variety of options at his disposal like firing ki blasts, read minds.

Ki Techniques

Explosive Wave: A small explosion that the user makes with ki to keep foes away like a shield
Saiyan Soul: Bardock manifests and charges his ki to give himself a boost in strength and speed
Howl: The Great Ape unleashes a mighty roar as a quick method to reach its full power
Heat Phalanx: A punch laced with Ki
Spirit of Saiyans: A combination attack of punches laced with Ki
Consecutive Energy Blast: A barrage of energy blasts being fired at the opponent
Super Consecutive Energy Blast: A stronger and faster barrage of energy blasts
Ultimate Consecutive Energy Blast: Fires out much more energy blast attacks compared to the super variant
Full Power Energy Wave: It’s a standard energy blast fired in a straight line, it’s the most baseline and iconic form of energy attacks in the series even usable by Frieza Soldiers
Flash Spirit: Bardock sends the opponent flying with 2 hits and uses a full power energy wave to wrap it up
Rebellion Spear: Bardock charges towards his enemy covered in his ki turning himself into a unstoppable force flying through anything in his path
Super Explosive Wave: The user generates a huge explosion of Ki it can also be used as a barrier
Chou Makouhou: A large energy beam fired from the user’s mouth
Saiyan Spirit (Ki Ver): Launches at high speeds to punch his opponent and with that same hand unleashes an upclose blast
Riot Javelin: As seen in the picture above, it’s a sphere of concentrated Ki and one of Bardock’s ultimate attacks
Spread Shot Riot Javelin: Bardock fires out 3 large Riot Javelins at the same time and they explode, preferably used for up close combat
Super Riot Javelin: It’s a bigger/stronger Riot Javelin
Limit Breaker Riot Javelin: Fires out a Riot Javelin amped beyond his maximum limitations
Final Spirit Cannon: A stronger variant of Riot Javelin or a stronger Full Power Energy Wave
Guided Final Spirit Cannon: Bardock can control the trajectory of his Final Spirit Cannon with this one mid blast just like Goku’s bending Kamehameha
Super Final Spirit Cannon: As you can expect it’s a bigger/stronger version of a Full Power Energy Wave
Limit Breaker Final Spirit Cannon: The same blast that finishes off Gas, Bardock fires a Final Spirit Cannon amped beyond his maximum limitations
Giga Meteor Storm: 3 concentrated balls of energy are fired from his mouth
Angry Final Spirit Cannon: It’s a Final Spirit Cannon only boosted with a blast behind it, making it much larger and far stronger

Great Ape

The iconic giant monster of the saiyan race, when under a full moon a saiyan transforms into a Great Ape it boosts all of their physical capabilities by 10x.

Super Saiyan

When faced with Frieza’s ancestor Lord Chilled and recalling the memories of his fallen comrades, and now seeing his new found friend Berry injured. Bardock taps into a saiyan’s hidden potential and transforms into a Super Saiyan. This form gives Bardock a 50x multiplier on all his physical capabilities. This should apply to speed, similarly to how Kaioken operates

Gas considers him stronger than any low class Saiyan
His Super Saiyan form was strong enough to take down Chilled who is Frieza's ancestor
  • Bardock’s base power level via the events of DBS puts him anywhere from 30,000-60,000 meaning his Super Saiyan form ranges from 1.5-3 million

Speed

Dodges a bunch of Frieza soldiers attacking him (see gif above)

Battlefield Removal: Bardock prevented himself from being teleported back to Planet Vegeta by the Cerealian Dragon, Toronbo simply because he refused

Scaling

Omni-Man

The Guardians of the Globe

Welcome to the Guardians of the Globe.

The best team in the entire world, composed of only the best the earth has to offer to protect it from harm. It’s obvious Nolan scales to the guardians by virtue of killing every single member of the original team as well as upscaling those on the newer team by virtue of being relative to Mark who surpasses their strongest member “The Immortal”.

Robot blows up a mech (0.00675-0.0119 Tons of TNT)
Rexsplode blows up Octoboss (0.013 Tons of TNT)
Rexsplode blows up a mansion (0.214-1.43 Tons of TNT)
Robot’s standard models can lift over 1 Ton
Robot created Advanced models of himself, stronger than Reanimen variants of Evil Marks
Atom Eve turned an African savannah into a farmland (116.8024 - 524.592 Yottatons of TNT)
The Immortal can lift 25 Tons
The Immortal Flies at Mach 3
Red Rush normally sees stuff in slow-motion when he gets serious and he states the briefest conversation to him feels like hours to him
The Invincible Handbook claims Atom Eve and The Immortal are one of 2 people in the series claimed to have power on par with Viltrumites

Allen

Because sometimes, to save the entire universe, you have to be Allen the Alien!

It’s everyone’s favorite cyclops alien rebel, the last surviving Unopan and it’s ultimate artificially created weapon, the coalition of planets’ Allen the Alien! Allen has been a long-time friend and former enemy of Earth heroes and Viltrumites alike, and after his power boost after battling a squadron of Viltrumites, Allen is roughly on the same level as Omni-Man after his exile from Viltrum, even outright battling against him multiple times. As such, scaling Omni-Man to Allen is more than reasonable.

Trained since birth in combat by his species in hopes of rivaling Viltrumites
He can lift over 30 Tons
Can lift and push a large spaceship out of a star’s orbit
Survived this explosion that reduced him without his arms and legs
Survived getting slammed into the moon at relativistic speeds very early on in the series (4.9 - 5.6 Petatons of TNT)
Rips apart metal structures made to withstand hits from Viltrumites
Bloodied Anissa with a single punch
Punches off a Viltrumites’ head
Dodged a Viltrumite warship mid-flight (Which is on par with Viltrumite flight speed)
Can fly at Mach 10 casually within the atmosphere but in space he casually Relativistic speeds
Flew from the edge of the solar system to Earth’s orbit in 12 minutes (23.9 - 2,424 c) or (69,492.52 c)
Flew into the surface of the sun unscathed
The Invincible Handbook claims Allens one of 3 people in the series claimed to have power on par with Viltrumites

Battle Beast

This is not a game! This is what I live for! This is my life!

Perhaps the most formidable fighter in the Invincible universe, Thokk, more commonly known as Battle Beast, has taken on some of the most powerful villains Invincible’s universe has to offer and lived to tell the tale. While Battle Beast is undoubtedly superior to Omni-Man, Omni-Man should still be comparable to some extent as many of Battle Beast’s challengers, who have managed to get the jump on him, have been overpowered or outright killed by Omni-Man, making this scaling still reasonable.

He’s the best in his entire race who are composed of warriors trained in every form of weaponry and hand to hand combat to “peak performance”
Can bench 20 Tons
Devastated the surface of the planet Thraxa during his fight with Thragg, despite being mortally wounded, a fight which lasted for several days
Easily defeated five Viltrumites while fighting in space, where he is explicitly weaker
Beat Black Samson and Bulletproof into unconsciousness
  • Black Samson and Bulletproof should be comparable to Brit, who is capable of withstanding the force of nukes with no damage at a constant rate
  • Seth and Thoth, villains which Black Samson and Bulletproof are capable of assisting in defeating, have destroyed planets in their battles
Unscathed from landing onto a planet from deep space
Withstood the explosion of Viltrum (84 Zettatons - 7.3 Quettatons of TNT)

Various Viltrumites

To all who make themselves enemies of the Viltrum Empire…PREPARE FOR YOUR DEATHS!

Many other, much more brutal in fact, Viltrumites have appeared as thorns in the side of Invincible, the Guardians of the Globe, and the Coalition of Planets throughout the Invincible series. While Viltrumites such as Conquest and Thragg are undoubtedly superior to Nolan, Omni-Man is still able to hold his own against the grand regent more times than one, has staggered him, and even gave him a bloody nose with a headbutt while Thragg was bloodlusted. Thragg even considered Nolan a worthy replacement in his absence as Viltrumite leader. Additionally, the aforementioned Battle Beast was capable of fighting for days on end against Thragg while the latter was mortally wounded by a self-inflicted injury, and as also stated above, many of Battle Beast’s opponents have been defeated by Omni-Man in the past. That along with veteran Viltrumites Vidor and Thula referring to Omni-Man as “the great Nowl’ahn” more than proves that scaling him to the accomplishments of greater Viltrumite foes throughout the series is more than reasonable.

Mark Grayson

STOP. THREATENING. MY FAMILY!. You have NO IDEA what I’ve been through…HOW MUCH..I’VE BEEN HOLDING BACK! I’ll never let ANYONE. EVER. EVER, HURT MY FAMILY!

And of course, there’s no forgetting Omni-Man’s own Invincible son; Mark Grayson! Mark has been through more than a lot over the years, and we all know what happened the first time he confronted his father. However, Mark has gotten far, far stronger since then, enough to be considered in the same weight class his father is in, even being capable of battling other Viltrumites who can challenge his father. Nolan is still overall considered to be the superior of the two up until the end of the series. This scaling is undoubtedly viable.

Tech Jacket

Don't worry, Dad... TECH JACKET is on the job!

Zachary Thompson may be one of Invincible’s lesser known heroes, but make no mistake, Tech Jacket is impressively strong in his own right. Wielding the trademark suit of armor created by the hyper-intelligent but physically weak Geldarian species, the Tech Jacket armor is immensely powerful, and has contended with some of the mightiest alien species in the universe, including the Viltrumites. Zachary himself assisted in the Viltrumite War alongside the coalition of planets, but he himself is demonstrably not on a Viltrumites’ level of strength. Tech Jacket needed upgraded weaponry which was explicitly designed to injure Viltrumites in order to compete, was still able to be restrained by ordinary adult Viltrumites, and Zachary even directly admitted that both Invincible and Omni-Man are far more powerful than he is, thus, scaling Omni-Man above Tech Jacket’s feats is entirely reasonable.

Space Racer

Stories about him stretched across the twelve galaxies. But in all of them, one detail remained constant. The Infinity Ray. It was said to emit an unstoppable energy wave that destroyed anything in its path. But it required a steady hand and, more importantly, a steady mind. For it wasn't a weapon to be used in haste. No one has ever gotten close enough to study the Infinity Ray for themselves. The Space Rider always makes sure of that.

The infamous Space Rider, known originally by Mark as a part of Nolan’s novel series Memoirs of a Space Adventurer, was covered up as a mere fantasy; the man with the invincible gun. The “fantasy” however turned out to be nothing of the sort. In reality, the Space Racer was very real. Nolan wanted to make sure no one could get his hands on his Infinity Ray which could blast through anything in the universe; most notably, planets and stars.

While Nolan can’t scale to the ray itself for obvious reasons, he could scale to its recoil effect. This is backed up by the fact the recoil effect of Space Racer’s gun could not fully pierce through the Planet Viltrum without Nolan, Mark, and Thaedus’ help, which clearly was the primary contributor behind the Planet’s destruction. See the explanations below under the Before the Verdicts section for further elaboration on common misconceptions regarding Space Racer’s gun and Planetary and higher Invincible characters. Nolan could also clearly scale to Space Racer himself.

Omnipotus

BEHOLD, The Might of OMNIPOTUS! Tremble before my UNLIMITED POWER!

Hailing from another universe, the mighty Omnipotus is as mysterious as he is powerful. After laying waste to his home reality, Omnipotus has the ability to either be a mild threat to Earth’s heroes to being the most powerful villain in the entire universe bar none, as his deadly energy absorption overtime could potentially destroy entire realities. Omnipotus has had a few encounters with the universes’ main heroes and villains, eventually meeting his match in the mutated supervillain Dinosaurus, someone who has been overpowered and killed by Viltrumites such as Invincible and Thragg, both of who Omni-Man can fight on even grounds with, thus, Omni-Man should reasonably scale to Omnipotus.

Bloodied an early-mid series Invincible in a single hit

Supreme (Debatable)

And for years...years...I've hauled them off to jail to be given a stern talking to and set free once more. No longer. From here on out....I'm judge, jury, and executioner.

From one Superman expy to another, Ethan Crane is the alien superhero Supreme, who is a bit more…complicated, but that will be further addressed in the conclusions section. Supreme has had a couple of run-ins and scraps with characters from the wider Image Comics cosmology, including, you guessed it; Omni-Man. Both were no-holds barred here, and due to Supreme being in his Mean Supreme incarnation, Omni-Man would scale to Supreme at his peak, as the fight also was evenly matched and resulted in roughly a stalemate slightly in favor of Omni-Man.

While this scaling is contentious due to Supreme’s nature as a meta-character whose power level is ever-shifting to be as powerful as whatever the story demands, most versions of Supreme are consistent enough with each other in scale for them to be relative to each other. So given Omni-Man was able to fight evenly against Mean Supreme, he could potentially scale to Supreme’s more impressive feats.

Bardock

The Frieza Force

An elite fighting unit made up of the best of the best, SECOND TO LORD FRIEZA!

Frieza's very henchmen and elites. While these guys may not look like much they are still very powerful and Bardock was able to tank hits from people like Dodoria who is comparable to Zarbon and fought against Gas at his full power and Toyotaro believed Gas could be comparable to the Ginyu Force and Bardock was able to battle against many of Frieza's weakest soldiers. With this Bardock should be able to scale to Frieza's various soldiers.

The weakest Frieza soldiers normally range between 1,300-1,560 in power level
Dodoria has a power level of 22,000
Zarbon has a power level of 23,000
Recoome’s Eraser Gun moved at high-speeds and created an explosion big enough to show the curvature of Namek, Krillin also noted it “warped the planet” using this as reference for Namek’s size (246 Zettatons of TNT - 12.6 Yottatons of TNT) and (0.012 - 0.02 c)
  • Recoome’s power level was never stated in the anime/manga however based on Captain Ginyu, he claimed Goku would have to be around 60,000 to one-shot Recoome.
Burter was fast enough to catch a Dragon Ball before anyone could turn their heads towards him
Captain Ginyu has a power level of 120,000

Piccolo

Sometimes, we have to look beyond what we want and do what's best.

And here we have everyone’s favorite woodwind-named Namekian and Gohan’s pseudo-father/brother figure; Piccolo! Piccolo has been a long-time friend and rival of the Z-Fighters since the beginning, even before the introduction of Saiyans at all. While Bardock never got the chance to meet Piccolo or any of Goku’s other friends, Bardock’s official power level was nearly 10,000, close to that of King Vegeta, and significantly above the likes of early Z villains such as Garlic Jr. & Raditz, both of who are demonstrably superior to Goku and Piccolo at the beginning of Z. As such, Bardock’s quickly growing power level and fighting prowess would make scaling him above characters early on in Z be more than reasonable.

Raised Papaya Island with an explosion in the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai (15.7 Petatons of TNT) or (737.4 Petatons of TNT - 46.69 Zettatons of TNT)
Piccolo's Makankosappo blew a hole in a mountain
Had a power level of 329 by the time of the Vegeta saga
Blew up the moon in a single ki blast, sending it’s debris flying through space at hypersonic speeds (4.82 - 13.46 Yottatons of TNT)
Contended with Tien during the 22nd budokai, who is more powerful than Master Roshi
Overwhelmed Super Garlic Jr. alongside Goku after removing his weighted clothing
His ki blast reached the moon in a few seconds (0.543 c)

Raditz

The true warrior never hesitates to kill... not even to kill his own brother! Care for a demonstration?

As Bardock’s long-lost other son, Raditz was one of three original Saiyans to have visited Earth during the Saiyan saga under Frieza’s command. Of a similar low class to his father and with a similar lifetime of training and fighting under Frieza’s belt, along with Raditz’s power level being much lower than Bardock’s, Bardock should undoubtedly be Raditz’s superior.

Has a power level peaking at 1,500 - 1,600
>=1/20th of Goku’s power level when he came back from training with King Kai
Withstood a bullrush from an enraged Gohan
One-Shotted Goku
Blasted off Piccolo's Arm
Claim by Nappa to equal in power to Saibamen, who have power levels exceeding 1,200
He’s an upper level low class saiyan warrior

Nappa

What's wrong? Oh wait, don't tell me. I think I know what you need. A nice trip to the afterlife. One way, of course.

As Vegeta’s former comrade and one of the saiyans who invaded Earth during the saiyan saga, Nappa, despite being rather unimpressive in the grand scheme of things in Dragon Ball’s cosmology, was a formidable foe towards the Z-Fighters during the Saiyan saga. Nappa is certainly a huge step up from the likes of Raditz, who he himself considers extremely weak in comparison, however his power level and overall reputation is still below the likes of the Saiyans of old, which includes Bardock and his crew along with Frieza’s other saiyan soldiers. Therefore, scaling Bardock to Nappa is more than reasonable.

Has a power level of 4,000
Violently shook the Earth just by powering up (1.065 Teratons of TNT - 20.8 Petatons of TNT)
Wipes out East City and created an explosion visible from space (228.66 Teratons of TNT - 26.77 Exatons of TNT) or (3.6 Petatons of TNT - 228.58 Ronnatons of TNT)
Curbstomped all of the Z-Fighters simultaneously
Killed Piccolo

Various Saiyans

You can bleed us to the brink of death, crush every bone in our bodies, it only makes us more powerful!

The following are Saiyans born and raised on Planet Vegeta, that have seen countless battles since birth and that we have seen over the course of the franchise. Of course we will be using those that are scalable to Bardock, most notably his crew and any other class Saiyan warriors near or under his power level.

Fasha has a power level of 2,000
2 Unknown saiyans from the past no-diff all of the Z fighters early in the Saiyan Saga
Paragus’s power level in DBS:Broly is 4,200
Turles keeps up with Goku despite his power level skyrocketing to 30,000
Baby Broly's energy barrier was strong enough to protect him and Paragus from Frieza's Supernova
Great Ape Tora creates a explosion that covers city blocks
Great Ape Shugesh makes another explosion that covers city blocks
5 Great Apes made this explosion seeable from space (820 Teratons of TNT - 26 Zettatons of TNT)
A Great Ape created this explosion seeable from space on Planet Vegeta (3.151 Petatons of TNT - 32.26 Zettatons of TNT) or (11.78 Zettatons of TNT - 56.34 Yottatons of TNT)

Son Goku

You haven't figured it out yet? I’m the Saiyan who came all the way from Earth with the sole purpose of beating you. I am the warrior you’ve heard of in legends. Pure of heart and awakened by fury, that’s what I am. I AM THE SUPER SAIYAN! SON GOKU!

Son Goku, or as some would call “Kakarot”, needs no introduction. A boy with a pure-heart and humble dreams of being the greatest fighter in the universe, Kakarot was sent to Earth as an infant by Bardock and Gine in order to hide him from Frieza’s forces. Little did Bardock nor Frieza know, but the once humble, monkey-tailed little boy beating up dinosaurs would end up becoming among the greatest warriors in the universe, and eventually even beyond that.

While Goku’s later adventures would propel him far beyond the level of power Bardock and other original Saiyans, Goku early on into discovering his Saiyan heritage was still fairly weaker than Bardock and other battle-bred Saiyans from planet Vegeta, explicitly requiring tremendous amounts of training in order to reach the level of Saiyans such as Raditz, Nappa, and eventually Vegeta, the former two having significantly lower power levels than Bardock after his zenkai boost. So therefore, scaling Bardock to Goku’s early feats from the Saiyan saga should be viable.

During his fight against Piccolo, Goku's Super Kamehameha was strong enough to shatter the moon
Survived Piccolo raising Papaya Island with an explosion in the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai (15.7 Petatons of TNT) or (737.4 Petatons of TNT - 46.69 Zettatons of TNT)
Punched a hole through King Piccolo
Had a power level of 416 by the early Saiyan saga, surpassing Piccolo and Super Garlic Jr’s. (nearly 20 times weaker than he was during the Vegeta arc, about 33.126 Quettatons of TNT)
After training with King Kai, his power had increased by nearly 20 times by the time of his fight with Vegeta
Much stronger than Gohan during the Vegeta saga
Has a greater power level than Krillin, who was quickly approaching Vegeta’s power level after having his potential unlocked
Krillin’s scatter Kamehameha, when split into six separate blasts, each individual blast was powerful enough to one-shot Saibamen, Saibamen being about equally as powerful as Raditz (making it 596.271 Quettatons of TNT in total)
Crossed all of Snake Way in 6 months and then did it in 27 hours (63.4 - 10,277 m/s)
Dodged an asteroid belt while outside of his space-ship, Goku did this during his training to Namek meaning his power level around this time would be vaguely 8,000-90,000

Prince Vegeta

It will take more than head games to stop me. You may have invaded my mind and my body, but there's one thing a Saiyan always keeps... his PRIDE!

As the self-proclaimed (and literal) prince of all Saiyans, Prince Vegeta is easily the most powerful Saiyan warrior amongst Frieza’s soldiers. Arriving to Earth initially as the Z-Fighters’ greatest threat yet, Vegeta would, in time, soften up during his time on Earth, eventually joining the side of our heroes as both a father and a husband, while of course never losing sight of his rivalry and drive to surpass Kakarot.

While Vegeta’s power level at the time of the Saiyan saga was almost twice that of Bardock as well as King Vegeta, downscaling Bardock to Vegeta’s power should make enough sense, as King Vegeta’s own direct feats, of which Bardock would eventually surpass after his Zenkai boosts, are relatively in the same range of power as Vegeta’s more effortless feats are within, making Bardock scaling at least somewhat similarly to those feats fair enough.

Had a power level of 18,000 by the time of the Saiyan saga
His ki alone was enough to shake the entire planet, creating massive storm clouds akin to hurricanes, create rock formations, and blow away all of the massive storm clouds subsequently after  (1.065 Zettatons of TNT - 20.8 Petatons of TNT)
Claimed to have surpassed his father even as a child
Made this large explosion on Namek with his beta Final Flash using this as reference for Namek’s size (58.58 Zettatons of TNT - 2.99 Yottatons of TNT)
As a child Vegeta was able to defeat multiple Saibamen
Piccolo stated Vegeta’s Final Burst Cannon was going to blow up Namek (12.65 - 646 Quettatons of TNT)
  • Vegeta’s power level around this moment would be logically anywhere over 1 million to under 3 million because Vegeta reacts to an attack faster than even Piccolo could see in this arc, who surpassed Second Form Frieza and he stated he had a power level over 1 million. Goku’s base when he first met Frieza was 3 million and he did significantly better than Vegeta against Final Form Frieza
Effortlessly destroyed the planet Arlia and it’s moon with a mere 2 fingers (1.94 KiloQuettatons of TNT)
Sliced off Great Ape Gohan’s tail with his Destructo Disc (making it 993.78 Quettatons of TNT)
Claimed that his Galick Gun would destroy the Earth, which is backed up directly by Goku who took this threat seriously, and later further confirmed in other Dragon Ball Guides including Dragon Ball:El manga legendario
Survived being hit by Goku's Kaio-Ken X4 Kamehameha which was strong enough to overpower his Galick Gun

King Vegeta

Never forget where you're from and train very hard, my son, because if you've proven yourself worthy, perhaps someday you will become a Super Saiyan.

The once mighty and noble king of the Saiyan race, King Vegeta’s might is not to be underestimated. After having no choice but to ally himself and his people with King Cold and his son, Frieza, and their forces, King Vegeta would indirectly have led to the eventual downfall of his species (mostly, of course). While King Vegeta is among one of the most powerful original Saiyans, Bardock’s power level after his zenkai boost from the Kanassan war, Bardock’s power level was quickly approaching King Vegeta’s and nearly matched his, and was even going to eventually surpass him. This means that scaling Bardock to King Vegeta is viable.

A genius in using strategies and combat tactics
Has a power level of over 10,000. Based on Daizenshuu 7 he has a power level of 25,000
Vaporizes a bunch of Frieza Soldiers with a wave of his hand
Oneshots Paragus with his execution beam
Destroyed a string of planets just by raising his hand (1.987 KiloQuettatons of TNT)
Stabs Baby Broly in his first appearance movie who had a power level of 10,000
Like his son, he should be capable of absorbing over 17 million Blutz Waves without any ill effect, which transforms normal Saiyans into Great Apes, a 10x power boost

Lord Frieza

I am Lord Frieza. None surpass me. No one even comes close! Etch this into your skull! I am the Emperor of the Universe! The likes of you are only fit to grovel at my feet! Or, better still… TO DIE, IN DISGRACE, AT THE HANDS OF YOUR MASTER!

And finally, lest we not forget the mighty, all-powerful, despicable Lord Frieza! Once the puny offspring and underling of his father King Cold, Lord Frieza would eventually rise in both physical and metaphorical power into becoming one of the strongest beings in the entire universe. Upon discovering the Saiyan race and subjugating them into becoming a part of his elite force of…cosmic stockbrokers, Lord Frieza employed a multitude of different low-class Saiyan warriors into his elite force, including, you guessed it; Bardock!

While we all know what happened when Frieza grew a disdain towards the Saiyan race due to the possibility of him being surpassed, there is a ton of debate regarding the aftermath of Frieza’s destruction of Planet Vegeta. It was intended to, and succeeded in causing the demise of most of the Saiyan race, yes, but whether that was due to the actual power of the energy ball itself or the Saiyan’s inability to breathe in space for long periods of time is up to contention.

Plus, Bardock’s body was seemingly not that damaged by the initial blast either, and alternate timelines have even shown us possibilities that Bardock could have defeated Frieza. In DBZ Kakarot when Bardock charges towards his ship amped with “Saiyan Spirit” Frieza commends his strength and considers him worthy enough to do battle, making his power level at this time near or over 42,000 but was it most definitely over, considering after the battle Frieza then fired a death beam with the full intent to kill Bardock but Bardock pushes through and repelled the beam with his own energy attack, shocking Frieza in the process. This will be delved into more later, but at least downscaling Bardock at his full potential at worse (as a Super Saiyan, specifically, which by power levels would already put Bardock close to Frieza’s first form power level by a difference of only 1.06x) to completely surpassing it by less than roughly 3-6x using his DBS counterpart as a base it shouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility he scales to the following.

Has a power level of 530,000 in his first form
His 2nd form has a power level of over 1,000,000
Killed King Vegeta and vaporizes a bunch of saiyans
Fought against an army of Namekians including Nail
Destroyed the Planet Vegeta, which has two stars orbiting around it, with a single energy ball extremely effortlessly (203.78 Ronnatons of TNT) - (2.462 Quettatons of TNT) to (0.6446 - 758.93 Foe) or using GBE with shots of it compared to the Earth (861 Yottatons of TNT - 2.286 MegaFoe)
Dodged King Vegeta's attacks by tilting his head and took him down in one punch
Destroyed an entire island and the explosion caused tsunamis and was visible from space in his 2nd form
Stated to have enough power to destroy the universe
Flew to Krillin and impaled him before he could react
His most inferior space pods can travel at high-speeds across the universe (42.9 Billion c)

Weaknesses

Omni-Man

Why do I CARE about them? They were weak, short-lived, barely a species. They shouldn't matter to me...YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND! I'M NOT SUPPOSED TO FEEL THIS WAY! HOW IS THIS BETTER?

Conflicted between his loyalty to Viltrum and the love for his family.
While resistant, the Smart Atoms of Viltrumites cannot withstand overly high or low temperatures for an extended period of time. This had led to the death or near death of even the most resilient Viltrumites out there, including Grand Regent Thragg, due to prolonged exposure.
Certain pinpoint, high-intensity, high-frequency sound waves can disrupt a Viltrumite’s inner ears and equilibrium. A Viltrumite’s inner eardrums and equilibrium is known to be incredibly sensitive due in part to Graviton Atoms allowing them to travel freely through space. Targeting their equilibrium can disrupt their flight, cause their ears to bleed, leave them completely paralyzed, and eventually even lead to death.
  • The exact intensity required in order to cause this much damage to a Viltrumites’ equilibrium is never specified. Given the fact Viltrumites can regularly break the sound barrier, travel through star systems while passing through planets (some of which, like our own Saturn, can produce noise on this scale simply while floating in space), and are unfazed by the sound of explosions the size of planets, it’s highly unlikely this weakness is exploitable simply by any loud noise, but rather a vague, unspecified frequency. However, there have been cases of various monsters and creatures throughout the universe being able to disrupt Viltrumites’ equilibrium with their noise, so this weakness should not be overlooked.
The Scourge Virus, a biological weapon created by Viltrum’s enemies, can leave a Viltrumite hospitalized, take away their powers, and eventually kill them in extremely painful manners. This disease was nearly single-handedly responsible for wiping out 99.9% of the entire Viltrumite race to a point they were pushed to the brink of extinction, leaving less than 50 Viltrumites left alive when all was said and done. Allen and Oliver believed that unleashing the virus upon Earth was enough to wipe out every single remaining Viltrumite on the planet at the time, including Grand Regent Thragg. This disease ended up being released upon Mark by accident, which nearly killed him on top of taking away his powers for a considerable period of time, which made him vulnerable to the point that punching Allen completely dismembered his arm.
The Klaxus Plant, a certain species of vegetation out in an unnamed planet, can be incredibly poisonous to Viltrumites. While it cannot outright kill them, it can take away their strength enough to a point they can be evenly matched in a fight or even defeated. While it’s unknown what specific type of biological or molecular makeup this plant is composed of, it could potentially be comparable to real world poisons or viruses, as Viltrumites are also vulnerable to real world diseases to some extent. Nolan himself even suggests that the poison from the plant can be extracted in a similar manner to the Scourge Virus.
Viltrumites’ insides are implied to be significantly less durable than their insides, as Robot was able to instantly kill an alternate version of Invincible with what was seemingly a normal bomb, after throwing it down his esophagus. It was even implied this bomb would have not damaged this version of Invincible’s outside as well. This would be entirely consistent with how Viltrumites’ inner eardrums are explicitly vulnerable to being targeted by any high-intensity frequency, as well as poisons being able to affect their biological makeup to degrees listed above.
If a Viltrumite’s most vital organs; the brain and/or heart, are targeted by an attack, their injury cannot be repaired by their healing factor or any other form of medication. This likely includes healing as potent as Atom Eve’s, as Eve didn’t even attempt to try and heal Nolan’s injuries while he was on his deathbed, despite being one of the first people to witness the fatality inflicted upon him by Thragg. Thragg attacking Nolan’s heart, of course, resulted in his death at the hands of the Grand Regent.
If he considers Debbie a pet to him, and Debbie is his wife, does that make Omni-Man a Zoophile?

Bardock

This is for all the people that we've killed in your name! I wish we were never foolish enough to obey you! HERE! HAVE IT!

If his tail gets cut off while he's a Great Ape, then he will revert back to base form. When Saiyans have their tails removed from them then they will be unable to access the Great Ape transformation ever again.
  • However, it is somewhat implied that Bardock may have potentially trained this weakness away. It should not be overlooked, however, as this is simply speculation. Bardock's lack of control over the Great Ape form on Kanassa’s surface is more proof of the contrary.
Additionally, Saiyans, including Bardock, require a full moon in order to access the Great Ape form. This means that Bardock would need to be fighting either on the night of a full moon, or wait for said night to occur during a battle he is in. This is exactly what had to happen on Planet Kanassa in order to have a guaranteed chance of victory over Kanassa.
While Bardock is able to fly outside the planet and should be tough enough to withstand the vacuum of space, he still cannot breathe in space and can only fight within a planet’s atmosphere. It may have appeared that Bardock did seemingly fight Frieza in space, however the fight actually took place in Planet Vegeta's upper atmosphere which, is an area where Bardock could still breathe Planet Vegeta's air
  • Albeit, it would be to a much lesser extent and Bardock would likely have run out of air due to being that high in space regardless. For example, even being 50 kilometers above our own Earth’s surface, would make it nearly impossible to breathe properly without passing out. Given Planet Vegeta is likely far larger and heavier than Earth is even in the context of Dragon Ball’s much larger Earth, and the context of the fight scene as well, Bardock was likely potentially several hundreds of kilometers above Planet Vegeta’s surface. However, Bardock still ultimately needs air to survive like nearly any living being does, so this weakness is not to be ignored due to this fact.
Ki based attacks, such as Riot Javelin, Full Power Energy Wave, or even Final Spirit Cannon, all require charge up time in order to release and attack with. This very weakness is even what resulted in Bardock’s demise at the hands of Frieza, as his Final Spirit Cannon was countered by Frieza’s Supernova attack before he could land it on him.
He was, in fact, not a brilliant scientist.

Before the Verdict

Isn’t Invincible only Multi-Continental?

This is a commonly held belief in regards to the power scaling of Viltrumites in the Invincible universe, with many people, even within the Invincible community itself, subscribing to this idea. While the event of destroying a Planet requiring three Viltrumites may seem like a heavy indicator for Viltrumites capping out at being Multi-Continent to Small Planet level characters, However, when taking a much more deep dive into the full context behind this and other various Planetary and above statements from Invincible’s universe, it’s made clear that this is a gross underestimation of how powerful Viltrumites truly are. With how much of a widely spread and discussed topic this feat is throughout a large majority of the power scaling community, this will be possibly the longest section of this blog, as we feel it necessary to provide a thoroughly in-depth debunk of this misconception that Viltrumites are not Planet busters.

First off, it is made very clear that Space Racer's Infinity Ray destabilizing Viltrum's core was far from being solely responsible for our three Viltrumite heroes being able to destroy the Planet. If it were truly the case that Mark, Nolan, and Thaedus could not actually withstand the force of colliding into Viltrum’s core, then Space Racer destabilizing the planet’s core would hardly do much at all in actually reducing that impact. The velocity in which Nolan, Mark, and Thaedus collided with Viltrum’s core, combined with their mass, would produce a force upon their bodies regardless of if they were able to charge through the Planet’s core or not. While a more unstable, less durable core would dampen the impact, it still would not completely nullify it if this was truly an issue of Mark, Nolan, and Thaedus not being durable enough to survive impact with the core.

This is evident with the scene itself, where Mark, Nolan, and Thaedus have no issue whatsoever charging through the Planet Viltrum moments before Space Racer shoots his gun through the Planet. At minimum, assuming Viltrum possesses an atmosphere with similar properties to Earth, the air pressure alone created by the three would require them to be withstanding air pressure of 700 grams per square centimeter. That’s over 53 times more dense than Earth’s core. Not only would the three Viltrumites have to be moving at an absolute minimum of 11 km/s in order to enter the atmosphere at all, but given the fact the three cross the entire Planet’s diameter fast enough in order to completely avoid being spotted by the other Viltrumites, and that the official handbook of the Invincible Universe states that Planets start to get destroyed by near-light speed force, they would have to moving at speed potentially anywhere from 0.5 to 4% the speed of light.

Additionally, there is no reason the core itself would be specified if the intent of the statement narratively was to convey that Viltrumites cannot destroy a planet single-handedly. Planets cores are universally recognized by everyone for appearing like lava and as being exponentially hot beyond any possible way of surviving. This is in fact what many people say is why you cannot dig fully through the Earth, oddly similar to what our three Viltrumites in this scene were doing in an instant here, so this being the narrative intent is highly likely. If they could withstand flying into Viltrum’s atmosphere at Relativistic speeds while burning up, and being hit by the force of their own punches cratering a massive hole into the Planet, there is no reason they could not physically tear through the core as well. The force of them punching a crater into the Planet VIltrum alone would far exceed the force they would be hit with upon hitting Viltrum’s core if they couldn’t break through it (by about times). Simply put, there is no actual evidence in the story which even remotely suggests that the reason Mark, Nolan, and Thaedus could not survive making contact with the core is due to them not being able to survive the force of an impact with it, and there are several different examples both word of god and in-universe which directly contradict that notion as well.

Finally, even if all of this were true, that Space Racer’s gun was indeed required for three Viltrumites to bust a Planet and that they truly would have died upon the force of making contact with the Planet, that still does not discredit the actual force of the attack on Viltrum at all. A destabilized core would not decrease a Planet’s mass at all, it would simply lower it’s gravitational pull by enough to make the Planet easier to fall apart. Nolan, Mark, and Thaedus’ strength would still have to be solely responsible for sending the chunks of Viltrum flying at the specific velocity it did. Even if a destabilized core reduced a Planet’s durability down to Building level, that would still not mean that flying into it would automatically send the chunks of the Planet flying with a comparable force to what we see Nolan, Mark, and Thaedus output. As an easier example, imagine a baseball which can be flung a considerable distance, let’s say the highest amount a professional batter would send it flying, with even the tiniest bit of force put upon it by a bat. If a character with that bat still manages to fling the ball past the moon, the bat’s kinetic energy would still need to be exerting an astronomically large amount of kinetic energy to do that even with a ball that is much less hardened and resistant.

Though you may ask, if the reason they couldn’t survive impact with the core isn’t because they couldn’t survive the force of the impact, then what was it? With the core itself being specified, that opens up a far more reasonable explanation for why the three Viltrumites would have died upon making impact with the core which falls in line consistently with Viltrumites’ power level portrayal narratively. When we look into the exact physiology behind Viltrumites more closely, we can find a far more reasonable explanation for why the three actually couldn’t survive the stabilized core, and that is simply due to one of the greatest physical weaknesses against Viltrumites; heat. For instance, take a look at how Space Racer’s gun operates. Against large bodies of heat, such as a literal star, Space Racer’s gun causes said star to detonate. The first thing the star does upon being hit by the Infinity Ray is immediately turn into a red giant. This is the stage of a Star’s life cycle that occurs when the Star begins to run out of hydrogen, and thus making it extremely cool in comparison to other Stars. Upon becoming a red giant, the Star hit by the Infinity Ray, then proceeds to go Supernova. Supernovae occur when a Star completely runs out of fuel and collapses into Neutron Stars. Given all of this happened immediately after Space Racer shot his Infinity Ray at the star, it can only be assumed that the side effect of the Infinity Ray hitting this Star instantly caused it to be exhausted of all of its hydrogen reserves. This is not something which is exclusive to the animated Invincible series either, as Nolan’s descriptions of Space Racer in his novel on Earth describe his gun as being able to destroy Planets and Stars as well. The Invincible series is also written and produced by the comics’ writer and creator; Robert Kirkman, as well. The scene in the Amazon Prime series was simply visualizing the text we see described by Nolan here, which was likely always in Kirkman’s mind when writing that panel for the comics. All of this means that Space Racer’s gun, when making contact with Viltrum’s core, must have been reasonably doing something similar; draining Viltrum’s core of all of its’ molecular elements in an instant, making it cool enough for Mark, Nolan, and Thaedus to pass through without being burned to a crisp upon making impact. The heat of Viltrum’s core being detrimental to Viltrumites is even acknowledged in the A-Z Handbook of the Invincible universe.

While Viltrumites have shown resistance to heat in the past, nothing they have been hit with would be even remotely close to how hot the core of a Planet of Viltrum’s caliber would be. According to the official A-Z handbook of the Invincible universe, the maximum capacity of heat in which Nolan himself is stated to be able to withstand simply before his skin is damaged is around 3,588 kelvin (or 3,316 degrees celsius). This should reasonably scale to other Viltrumites’ level of durability regarding heat before their smart atoms break down. Mark and Thragg’s battle on the surface of the sun, which lasted about as long as one conversation between the two, resulted in Thragg’s entire body being completely incinerated down to a skeleton, while Mark, even while still being protected by Robot’s heat resistant armor, still had his entire body burned to the point of becoming nearly completely unrecognizable. The temperature of the Sun’s surface is estimated at being around 10,000 degrees fahrenheit, already far above Viltrumites’ confirmed limit of heat resistance. Compare that to the core of a planet such as Viltrum. Planet Viltrum is stated to have gravity 1.25x greater than Earth’s, and that would mean that its mass, and thus its core, would be far greater than a planet like Earth’s. Planets in our own Solar System which have greater gravity than Earth have cores which reach temperatures up to 43,000 degrees fahrenheit. With Jupiter’s gravity being around 2.5x greater than that of Earth’s, this would make Viltrum around half as heavy. However, since temperature measurements increase linearly, this would still mean that Viltrum’s core should be comparably hot to a planet like Jupiter. Given that Viltrumites were able to fight for thousands of years on end before their population was even cut in half, this also implies Viltrum to be bigger than the Earth as well, making this comparison even more viable. This would mean that Nolan, Mark, and Thaedus, if they were to make contact with Viltrum’s core, would be hit with temperatures unimaginably hotter than anything any Viltrum has been seen surviving in the entire series, including Mark and Thragg’s final prolonged battle in the sun, more than enough to kill them instantly. This combined with the already acknowledged usage of Space Racer’s gun immediately cooling stars to the point of going supernova, this idea perfectly explains Thaedus’ statement explaining that he, Nolan and Mark would die upon making impact with Viltrum’s core without any contradictions.

This argument may feel like an Occam’s Razor fallacy, brainstorming an entirely alternate explanation based on hypothetical arguments rather than what also makes sense. First off, it actually would not make more sense given the full context of this feat over this proposed explanation, and is also repeatedly contradicted by very blatantly Planet level and higher feats from the Invincible universe which Viltrumites clearly scale to. This interpretation also entirely falls in line with what Invincible creator and writer Robert Kirkman intended for the power level of Viltrumites. For one, every single mention of the destruction of Viltrum in both the series and official recaps/explanations of the Invincible storyline, fully attributes the destruction of Viltrum to Mark, Nolan, and Thaedus, with no mention at all of Space Racer’s gun being a key factor in it. Leaving out the fact that they needed Space Racer’s gun in order to do that would be ignoring very crucial detail regarding the Invincible story, yet no official explanation of the Viltrumite War storyline, despite it very in-depthly explaining every part of the comic, never once brings up the fact that Space Racer’s gun was needed for Nolan Mark and Thaedus to blow up Planet Viltrum. Here are just a few examples of these statements in both Invincible’s story and official statements and interviews from Invincible’s many writers.

Various Word of God Statements

Skybound Entertainment, the official producer for the Invincible comic run, states that Nolan, Mark and Thaedus FLEW DIRECTLY INTO VILTRUMS CORE, CAUSING THE PLANET TO EXPLODE, without mention of Space Racer’s gun playing any role whatsoever. Ignoring such a detail in the story’s analysis would be very detrimental to the reader's understanding of the story if the Infinity Ray’s necessity was actually a factor.

Kirkman states that, in order to top the city to country level destruction portrayed in previous Invincible stories, he should make Viltrumites punch a planet and blow it up. If Space Racer’s gun was necessary for three Viltrumites to destroy a planet, that would completely go against what the intent of that scene was according to Kirkman himself, which was to explicitly show the Celestial-Body shattering strength of Viltrumites that the comic run rarely shows, not that they cannot destroy a planet individually, but the precise opposite. The animated series showing us far more direct Planetary and even Star level feats that were not shown in the comics supports Kirkman’s claims beyond any reasonable doubt. The next example supports this claim even further:

Allen’s Homeworld; Unopa

Since our home world was destroyed my people have been taking steps to ensure our survival, we have breeding camps and child raising colonies.

An integral part of, if not the entire premise of character Allen the Alien’s backstory revolves around the destruction of his home planet; Unopa. One could come to the conclusion that “our home world was destroyed” could simply mean devastating the surface of the planet by destroying all life, buildings, cities, etc., rather than the actual destruction of the Planet itself. The implications of Allen’s statements here, however, prove otherwise. Not only did Allen state that the Viltrum Empire had destroyed Unopa over hundreds of years ago, but Allen also explains how his species were forced to become nomadic species after the destruction of their planet. If the Planet of Unopa was left intact with simply its surface being devastated, then there would be no logical reason for the Unopan species to have to frantically escape their planet to become a nomadic species, let alone set up breeding camps to ensure their survival. It makes very little sense for something like that to happen if their home world was ruined, but still intact. Furthermore, it would be very out of character for the Viltrum Empire to leave a Planet behind with the knowledge of there being possible survivors of their genocide. Viltrum repeatedly enforces that if a species resists their rule, they will all die and their resources will be forcibly seized. And with how the destruction of “home worlds” is repeatedly portrayed in Invincible as actual, literal complete destruction of said Planet, as is the case with Viltrum’s destruction, there is no logical reason to assume the destruction of Unopa is any different. There quite literally would have to be nothing left for Allen or his people to return to.

There are several more examples of Viltrumites explicitly intending to destroy the entirety of Planets throughout the series as well.

Viltrum’s Intentions for Earth

“When we’re done, we will have destroyed this planet–the same as these beings you wish to protect are already doing. Nothing would be lost.”

While attempting to persuade Mark Grayson into going through with preparing Earth for Viltrumite takeover, Anissa explains that, after they are finished using up all of the Earth’s resources, they will destroy it completely, and that nothing would be lost in the process. Unlike the example above, it’s hard to imagine this simply referring to devastating the Earth’s surface. For one, by Viltrum using up all of Earth’s resources, that itself effectively is already exterminating not only the surface of the planet, but its inner properties such as its underground minerals, all forms of plant life, and the crust of the Planet as well. With quite literally nothing left on the Planet at all after Viltrum is done with their usage of the Earth, then we can logically conclude that the only thing that would count as “destroying” the Earth afterwards would be annihilating the Planet itself, as it would no longer serve Viltrum any use.

The difference between the destruction of the surface of and all life on a Planet and the destruction of a Planet itself is even acknowledged directly outside of implications by Viltrumites themselves. For example, despite the Planet Thraxa being repeatedly devastated by the battles between Viltrumites and similarly powerful characters in the Invincible universe, not a single time has the Planet been referred to as being “destroyed”, despite its surface and life upon it being repeatedly devastated into ruins. Viltrumites themselves have repeatedly returned to the Planet Thraxa as well, including the Grand Regent Thragg, who is the most adamant enforcer of a Viltrumites’ egotistical worldview. Ordinary Viltrumites have looked upon the Thraxan species as “weak” and “barely a species” before, yet not a single time have they boasted upon “destroying” the Planet, nor any other time where they have simply laid waste to a Planet’s surface. This has happened to Earth many times before too, and our next example drives this point in even further:

Thragg states that the remaining surviving Viltrumites will “tear the Earth in half”

I have come to offer you a truce. There are exactly thirty-seven of us left alive, some of us severely injured. That is enough to tear this planet in half, killing every living creature here, and there is nothing you could do to stop that. And it would be fair retaliation for what you did to our home world.”

You may have noticed that this feat was touched upon in the scaling section, but it feels right to elaborate further on this as it very blatantly backs up Viltrumites being Planet busters at minimum. Thragg here clearly states that 37, including multiple severely-injured Viltrumites, are enough to “tear this planet (Earth) in half”. This again, at first glance may appear like flowery language on Thragg’s end, however, Thragg clearly means this very literally. For starters, the reason Thragg and the surviving Viltrumites after the Viltrumite War even fled to Earth in the first place was not to take revenge on the Coalition of Planets for destroying Viltrum (at least, not at first), in fact it is quite the opposite. After their homeworld was destroyed by Nolan, Mark, and Thaedus, the Viltrumite species had lost every piece of technology, weaponry, and resources in which they had on their Planet. Not just this, they now had nowhere to live as their base of operations. As Thragg states here, the scourge virus, along with the recent Viltrumite War, had left a meager 37 surviving Viltrumites left alive. Thragg’s proposal to Nolan and Mark was, in exchange for not annihilating the Earth in retaliation, to live upon the planet Earth, upon the human race, in order for them to ensure their species’ survival and prosperity by breeding with the human race. This of course backfired when most if not all of the Viltrum Empire came down with a bad case of “humanity”, but that’s besides the point. If Mark and Nolan had refused Thragg’s offer at a truce, Thragg makes it clear that the remaining 37, including severely-weakened Viltrumites will tear the Earth in half.

There are various reasons to conclude that Thragg means this in the most literal way possible. For one, Thragg says multiple times in this exchange that he “does not wish to destroy their species’ only chance at survival”. This could simply mean killing all life on Earth, however this is unlikely, as Thragg in this same scan compares what they would do as “fair retaliation” for what the Coalition of Planets did to the Planet Viltrum, which as we all know, clearly destroyed the entirety of the Planet in a literal sense. He also says that the process of destroying the Earth will “kill every living creature on this planet”, as the wording of his statement very clearly implies. The usage of the word “every living creature” rather than something like “entire human race”. If Thragg had been referring to surface-wiping the Planet, then it’s highly unlikely that Viltrum would fully succeed in killing literally every living species on the Planet. Thragg would have also clearly specified “entire human race” if that is what he meant, as the entire purpose of this exchange is Thragg attempting to convince Mark and Nolan to come to a truce; by allowing Viltrum to live amongst and breed with humans to reinforce their ranks, and he also refers to humanity many times in this exchange as well when explicitly referring to them.

Furthermore, the implication of Thragg comparing what they would do to Earth to the Coalition of Planet’s destruction of Viltrum implies that the scale of these attacks would be comparable. If the way Viltrum would have destroyed the Earth would be “fair retaliation” in comparison to Nolan, Mark, and Theadus’ destruction of the Planet Viltrum, then we can logically assume the process of “tearing the Earth in half” should be similar in presentation and scale to the destruction of Viltrum. This would mean that the force and velocity in which the mass of the Earth, similarly to the pieces of Viltrum, would be moving at should be roughly comparable, if not massively superior due to Viltrum’s gravitational pull being 1.25x that of Earth’s. WIth this end, this kinetic energy which would be required to eject both halves of the Earth at such speed through space comes out to 116.03 Ronnatons of TNT. This may seem like a highball for a feat which is seemingly only 1/2th a Planetary one, however we have to take into consideration that Planetary destruction in Invincible is explained in its A - Z handbook as being physically possible due to beings approaching the speed of light

Not only do Viltrumites very regularly far exceed light speed with their travel speed alone (arguments against Viltrumites’ combat and reactionary speed scaling to their flight speed will be addressed shortly), but the Coalition of Planet’s attack on Viltrum had required Nolan, Mark, and Thaedus to quickly approach closer and closer to speed of light in order to blow the Planet to pieces. Given Viltrum should be at least as big as Earth, the explosion covering it in its entirety, and it all happening nearly immediately before the Viltrumites fighting in space even realize what’s going on, this implies a timeframe of 1 second for the explosion to occur immediately after our three Viltrumites rammed through the Planet. Again, we can logically conclude the devastation of the Earth which Thragg and Viltrum were going to do if Mark refused the truce is a comparable scale event, and by virtue, an explosion which immediately covers an entire Planet would be exploding at approximately 4.2% the Speed of Light, consistent with the Invincible universe’s explanation of Planetary destruction as well as nearly exactly equal to the estimated speed of Viltrum’s explosion (see scaling sections above for calculations of this feat). This would mean that chunks of the Earth would be being ejected at the same speed, sending them flying through space with the determined 116.03 Ronnatons of TNT value mentioned above. Even if we were to assume that all 37 Viltrumites equally contributed to, which is likely not the case given that Thragg specifies here that some of them are severely injured and thus far from their peak, the yield in strength for each individual Viltrumite would still come out to 3.13 Ronnatons of TNT.

That is enough energy to destroy an ordinary Planet over 52,000 times over. This adamantly backs up Robert Kirkman’s claims of Viltrumites being able to “punch a planet and blow it up” as well as that an ordinary Viltrumite possesses “celestial-body shattering power”. While you could make a case for the fact that kinetic energy of the Earth’s mass would not have been on the writer’s mind and that this could very easily have been intended as an ordinary Small Planet level to Planet level feat, this is unlikely, as Invincible’s universe makes very specific usages of scientific and mathematical concepts to explain how the physical capabilities of various characters in the verse work, including the existence of Kinetic Energy being applied to and against Planets in a way completely consistent with real-world theories of relativity.

Additionally, all 37 Viltrumites would have had to have been flying straight into the Earth’s core in order to “tear the Earth in half” at all, in the exact same manner Nolan, Mark, and Thaedus had to against Viltrum’s core. Yet as we established above, Viltrum’s core would be outputting immensely more heat than the core of a Planet such as Earth would be. This is backed up by Thragg and Mark surviving inside of the surface of the sun, which Earth’s core is about equally as hot as, for possibly hours on end. This debunks the idea of Viltrumites not being physically durable enough to make contact with a Planet’s core both in a “Death of the Author” sense, as well as in universe, as if a Viltrumite like Thaedus believed they would die upon making contact with a Planet’s core, then there’s little to no reason Thragg wouldn’t believe the same if they truly could not individually destroy planets via that factor and not their heat weakness.

Thragg fully attributes Mark, Nolan, and Thaedus to the destruction of Viltrum

“Can you imagine how disgusted I was to learn that you, who sided with the betrayer, Thaedus—who murdered your father, was the rightful ruler of the Viltrum Empire?! You, who destroyed our home planet!

As Thragg monologues to Nolan here, Thragg attributes the destruction of the Planet Viltrum fully to Nolan, Mark, and Thaedus without any sort of mention of Space Racer’s gun playing any role yet again. This would make sense too, as Thragg would have no way of knowing Space Racer played any role at all, and Thaedus even was trying to make it so that Space Racer attacking Viltrum’s core was fast enough so that Viltrum couldn’t notice in time. Furthermore, Thragg, who is very realistic when it comes to the strength of Viltrumites and knows more about their species’ power than anyone else, did not doubt for a second that the three were capable of such a feat, and as stated above Thragg and 37 severely injured Viltrumites were “more than enough” to do the same to Earth.

Mark brings up the destruction of Viltrum again, without any mention of Space Racer’s gun in any capacity

“Really? I seem to recall having to pull you along with me so you could keep up when we destroyed Viltrum.”

“That’s flying— and I’m getting faster. Remember how I punched through the planet along with you and Theadus?”

In yet another instance in regards to the infamous Viltrum feat, Nolan and Mark, both in a display to boast their strength, discuss the destruction of Planet Viltrum and how they alone punched through the Planet. It should be noted that Nolan stating here that “so you could keep up when we destroyed Viltrum” is a boast towards Nolan’s own strength being superior to Mark’s, not that all three of them needed to work together to destroy Viltrum. Nolan himself is also very charitable and reasonable when it comes to the true strength of Viltrumites, and he would also have every reason to bring up Space Racer’s gun if it were truly a factor in the destruction of Viltrum. But yet again, not a single mention of it. This is simply far beyond the point of the writers of Invincible simply not including it. There is no narrative intent to suggest that Space Racer’s gun was actually used for anything other than making Viltrum’s core cool enough for our three Viltrumite heroes to pass through to punch through properly.

With how Space Racer’s gun is portrayed as being able to cool down stars instantly as we’ve explained above, the fact that casual Planetary and higher destruction is both heavily implied, portrayed, and flat out confirmed throughout Invincible’s storyline, this statement made to lowball Invincible characters to below Planetary can finally be put to rest for what it is; an anti-feat pushed without the proper context.

So, in short, Space Racer’s gun is not a detractor of the notion that Viltrumites are individually Planet busters, nor would that discredit the actual force of Viltrum’s planet’s chunks being sent flying violently even if it were true. This along with the fact there are many other Planetary and higher feats in Invincible’s universe that Omni-Man clearly scales to if not has directly been involved in achieving, we can safely put Omni-Man at Planet to Star level without any reasonable narrative contradiction.

Aren’t Viltrumites’ Massively FTL+ feats only applicable to travel speed through wormholes in space created by their Smart Atoms?

While a much lesser complaint in regards to Viltrumites’ power scaling, this is occasionally brought up to discredit Viltrumites being able to operate at MFTL+ speeds. To get out of the way one of the biggest arguments in this field, while the MFTL+ feats performed by Viltrumites throughout the series are flight speed feats, these do very clearly scale to their combat and reactionary speeds.

For starters, Allen very early on in the series well before his power boost which propelled him to the level of Viltrumites, was stated to have combat speed directly proportional to that of his reactionary speed. How is this relevant exactly to scaling him to his flight speed? Well, first off, in order to even control your velocity and direction while flying through space or just moving in general, you’d need to be able to react to and perceive the speed you're moving at. Second off, even ignoring that, Allen while getting far stronger and faster was casually able to react to a Viltrumite warship flying straight into him. As stated above in the scaling sections, Viltrumites’ flight speeds are stated to rival that of starships, and we can compare even just by direct feats in the mainline series that these ships would have to be traveling upwards of at least 3.389 billion c. This is a serious low-ball in itself too given how fatigued and nonchalant Nolan was during his 1 week trip to Planet Thraxa, but that’ll be important later on. Regardless, this alone undoubtedly proves that Allen alone, just by virtue of having his combat speed be proportional to that of his reactionary speed, would be scaling to MFTL+ combat speed wise. It’s also very obvious that characters on Nolan’s caliber scale to Allen in combat speed even well after his power boost, so there should be nothing wrong with scaling Nolan to MFTL+ in all speed categories.

We also have direct examples from Viltrumites themselves being able to react to characters moving at their flight speed. Thragg, while fighting off both Nolan and Mark simultaneously, was able to catch both of them in mid-flight with his attacks. We know both of them were clearly traveling at their top speeds, as Mark was quite literally attempting to flee for his life against Thragg desperately. Yet Thragg was still able to grab a hold of him and disembowel him immediately after.

So just in regards to Viltrumites’ flight speeds being that of MFTL+, there should be no issue with them scaling to their flight speed when it comes to their combat and reactionary speeds in any regard. This, however, brings us into a more interesting argument which is occasionally brought up to refute Viltrumites being able to scale to MFTL+, and that is the nature of Smart Atoms manually propelling them through manually created wormholes by “bending space”. For starters, this statement in the A - Z Handbook of the Invincible Universe is more than likely just referring to Angstrom Levy rather than it is to Viltrumites’ Smart Atoms. This statement regarding wormholes and space-bending is not in relation to the handbook’s description of Smart Atoms, but rather a scientific explanation of a mechanic in verse which only resembles that of the character Angstrom Levy’s powers. The guidebook states that wormholes can lead into even “other universes”, something we’ve clearly never seen Viltrumites do before nor suggest anything to prove they are capable of such via sheer speed, however we have seen this clearly with Angstrom Levy’s powers. In either case, wormholes in most portrayals in fiction, including Invincible, are shown as instant travel/teleportation. If this were what allowed for interstellar travel for Viltrumites, we would not see them fly through space at all through any considerable period of time. Yet we do, multiple times. If Viltrumites really “bent space” in their travels through it to get to any point quickly, there would be no reason for them to require any form of space travel to begin with. Especially Nolan himself, during his week-long journey through space to the Virgo Supercluster, in which he quite clearly is fatigued and not particularly going towards any particular planet, until discovering the Thraxans. It would be quite an absurd notion to suggest Nolan, who was drifting through space without any particular destination in mind or any sort of urgency to move anywhere quickly, was bending space to create wormholes in his travel from Earth to the Virgo Supercluster in what took a week at most.

Additionally, even if Smart Atoms propelling a Viltrumite through space is what were responsible for them to achieve FTL travel and beyond, this does not discredit the fact that Viltrumites explicitly would need to be able to react to their own speed in order to control their direction through space at all. The way Smart Atoms work in the first place is due to entities with them being able to control the properties of their DNA to some extent, which means that Viltrumites themselves would need to be the ones propelling their smart atoms through space as they are the ones who dictate their movement in the first place, as all atoms work. Atoms could not exactly move without brain function sending the signal to the nerves to do so. Nolan’s explanation of flight to Mark and how Viltrumites are able to do it (this is clearly not a lie as there would be no reason for Nolan to make this up about Viltrum if he was still training Mark to become a Viltrumite soldier) explicitly requires control over their direction and velocity. Mark himself literally crashes due to going too fast and not being able to react in time, which is what Nolan trains him to do. Simply put, Smart Atoms, even if we assume they were solely responsible for Viltrumites being able to achieve FTL travel, this would not have any sort of bearing on the fact that Viltrumites still are objectively able to surpass the speed of light, are able to control their direction and react to objects moving at similar speed to them, and the fact that Smart Atoms are how they are able to do that is completely irrelevant to the fact they still achieved these feats, and thus clearly are able to scale to MFTL+ feats without any problem.

Not to mention, there are various different mentions of direct near or FTL travel for characters in Invincible without any sort of mention of that not being possible without the usage of Smart Atoms, and this is for characters who explicitly are made up of Smart Atoms.

Why is Omni-Man being scaled to Space Racer’s gun’s Planet and Star busting strength? Doesn’t Space Racer’s gun instantly one-shot Viltrumites?

This is a very reasonable concern in regards to Nolan’s scaling here. However, while we briefly touched upon this above in the scaling section, we should make it more clear that Nolan is not being fully scaled to the Infinity Ray’s true power. Given the nature of the Infinity Ray being able to one-shot basically anything in the Invincible verse for reasons we’ve explained above in regards to the infamous Viltrum feat, it’s more than likely the Infinity Ray’s power is more of a case of durability negation rather than raw power. Again, we can take note of the fact that the Infinity Ray being able to disperse this star near an asteroid belt turned it into a red giant and subsequently caused it to go supernova, which implies the Infinity Ray must have drained it of all of it’s hydrogen reserves in an instant. Since we know Invincible loves its scientific talks regarding the nature of molecules and atoms and all, it’s more than likely the reason the Infinity Ray is able to one-shot Viltrumites is something similar to do with their Smart Atoms rather than simply being far stronger than them. Since we know Viltrumites’ capacity for withstanding exceptionally high or cold temperatures caps out around kelvin or degrees celsius respectively, and the fact that the Infinity Ray was used to destabilize Viltrum’s core to cool it down enough for Nolan Mark and Thaedus to safely pass through (for reasons explained above), we can logically infer that the Infinity Ray must be cooling the Smart Atoms of Viltrumites to such a degree that it instantly kills them as well.

If so, then what gives? Why should we scale Nolan to an attack which was done by durability negation? Well, in reality, what we would actually be scaling Nolan to here is not the Infinity Ray itself, but it's recoil effect, that being the explosions caused by the Infinity Ray as a side effect. And in that regard, there should be no problems in doing so. We can look back on the infamous Viltrum feat to prove it is quite clear a Viltrumites’ power is greater than the destruction we’ve seen the Infinity Ray inflict as a side effect of its power. As we’ve explained above, Nolan Mark and Thaedus were explicitly required for the destruction of Viltrum with Space Racer’s Infinity Ray very clearly having no major role in the actual destruction of the planet itself. This is clear as the Infinity Ray could clearly not fully pass through Viltrum’s core in a way that would have caused the Planet’s destruction on its own. Typically, annihilating the core of a planet would subsequently collapse the rest of the Planet in the process, and we even see the Infinity Ray able to do this against stars when it makes contact with said stars. It’s even stated by Nolan himself in his novel that the Space Racer’s gun has destroyed planets before according to “legend”, but could not do the same to Viltrum. This can be taken in one of two ways. Either the rumors regarding Space Racer’s gun being able to destroy Planets is false, or the core of Viltrum was exceptionally more powerful than the Planets and Stars Space Racer’s gun was able to pierce through in the past, and only Nolan Mark and Thaedus were able to do the job for him. The first interpretation is highly unlikely for a few reasons. One, we know that Space Racer’s gun being able to destroy Planets and Stars, thanks to the Amazon Prime series of Invincible, is something meant to be taken literally. It would go against Space Racer’s purpose as being an ally to the Coalition of Planets to take Viltrum down, and who Thaedus’ whole plan for using him was to destroy the Planet Viltrum, if it was not whole-heartedly believed both in-universe and by Invincible’s writers that the gun could not actually destroy a Planet on it’s own. Secondly, when the “legends” regarding Space Racer’s gun have been heard by every single alien species in the entire universe according to Nolan, who are already well used to Planets being destroyed, it would be hard to imagine every single one of them were exaggerating. For Nolan stating that “nobody could ever get close enough to observe the infinity ray up close”, this is more likely alluding to the fact the Space Racer simply just kills anyone who tries to see how it works, which is what he was going to do to Nolan on both of their encounters.

In short, the Infinity Ray being unable to fully pierce through Viltrum’s core despite it’s power clearly being able to bust through planets in the past, and just by the fact that Nolan, Mark, and Thaedus were needed to fully break through Viltrum’s core, there should be no issue with scaling the Infinity Ray’s supernova level recoil effect to Nolan. And as we listed above in the scaling sections, it’d be entirely consistent with various feats in Invincible, including the one below:

Isn’t Omnipotus’ Star System destroying feat stated to be through a chain reaction? Wouldn’t that be Environmental Destruction nobody scales to?

To put it simply…this doesn’t matter. Whether a chain reaction or not, the Solar System was still destroyed, and by how Omnipotus’ powers work by feeding off of the energy of celestial objects, he would thus obtain the mass-energy of that Solar System. This is from a depowered Omnipotus:

Using our own Solar System’s mass as a reference, which is about 1.989e+30 kilograms, the mass-energy equivalence of this would equate to roughly 1.78e+47 joules, or 1.78 KiloFoe. This is something that not only applies to Omnipotus’ powers and thus physical capabilities, but also his durability. This scan here describing his powers clearly indicates that Omnipotus’ absorbed power operates as a Universal Energy System. If you don’t know what that means, it basically means that the energy within one’s body can be channeled through all of their attacks, making it scale to both their physical and energetic attacks, as well as their durability. We know this scales to Omnipotus’ durability via the fact the entire Guardians of The Globe were barely able to do any damage to Omnipotus whatsoever, yet Dinosaurus was able to one-shot Omnipotus effortlessly. This shows us that there is a clear durability difference in raw power unrelated to hax, and also that Dinosaurus’ bite force can exceed that of the energy powering Omnipotus’ body. Keep in mind this comes from a weakened Omnipotus, who after explicitly becoming far stronger months later by feeding off of the entire universe’s mass-energy:

“But wait! Wasn’t Omnipotus not at his full power when coming to the main universe? Wouldn’t he have killed everyone if he had gotten his powers fully restored?”

Well, not exactly. During Omnipotus’ first encounter with the Guardians of the Globe, he had just returned from his destroyed universe, which he had just drained and destroyed and empowered himself with:

And of course, Omnipotus is demonstrably far more powerful than the Guardians of the Globe, and likely even Mark during this time period.

And yes, while Omnipotus was depowered from the Warp Key which brought him over to the mainline universe, he was already in the process of restoring his powers to an even greater level than previously. This is why the Guardians of the Globe sent him back to his home universe thanks to Black Samson. However, when Omnipotus returned again later on in the series, returning to Earth and this time succeeding in defeating the Guardians of the Globe. Omnipotus specifies that the reason he believed he lost before was due to that weakened state he had been in from hopping between realities, causing him to lose a vast majority of the energy he fed off of the universe from. And this time, Omnipotus had prepared himself for months before returning to get his revenge on the heroes of Earth to attempt to take it over once more, by feeding off of the energy of the universe once more.

(While Omnipotus uses the word “world” here, there is no way he is referring to Earth as he was literally forced off of the Earth by the Guardians of the Globe during his first attempt to conquer Invincible’s universe and is only now returning, and also uses that word as synonymous with “dimension”. World can also be used as synonymous with a parallel universe or dimension as well)

Assuming a timeframe of around 6 months for Omnipotus to feed off of the universes’ mass energy (which is estimated as being around 4.2e+69 joules), this would mean that Omnipotus’ power while returning to Earth to now defeat the new Guardians of the Globe was that of 2.6618562e+62 joules, or 2.6 ExaFoe worth of energy. Yet immediately after boasting this, his head is immediately able to be bitten off by Dinosaurus, which means that Dinosaurus must have overpowered the energy coursing through Omnipotus’ body. Via the fact Omnipotus was demonstrably and objectively stronger than before with his newly drained Universal energy, we can again prove this scales to Omnipotus’ physical durability. This is consistent with the scene itself, as Omnipotus’ head when being bitten off unleashes a large surge of energy, that energy again, being 2.6 ExaFoe. We can infer that this energy applying to the power within Omnipotus’ body is clearly the intention in the issue itself just by how we see the energy acting as an aura around Omnipotus’ body to demonstrate his far greater power level.

So in short, the mass-energy of the Celestial Bodies Omnipotus destroys are directly absorbed into and empower Omnipotus’ body, scaling him to said mass-energy, and that mass-energy is still demonstrably below the level of characters far inferior to Viltrumites, that being Dinosaurus. There is no issue with scaling Nolan to Omnipotus.

Why is Omni-Man debatably able to scale to Supreme? Doesn’t Supreme’s power constantly fluctuate between iterations and storylines due to his nature as a meta-narrative character?

This is without a doubt the most reasonable concern in regards to Nolan’s scaling here. Supreme constantly fluctuates in power, and is also canonically explained as having his power nerf or buff itself in order to match the person he is fighting in terms of equal strength ... .or does he really?

Not necessarily. This scan itself makes no indication of Supreme’s power lessening to be on par with that of characters below himself. If that were the case, he would struggle against everyday thugs and criminals in a fight, which is obviously not true. In fact, this scan implies quite the opposite. Supreme’s power increases to match characters who are stronger than him. At best, this could potentially imply that Nolan is stronger than what Supreme has faced before, but that itself is a stretch.

Regardless, Supreme’s wording here is clearly indicating that of reactive evolution/adaptation, which only ever makes his power stronger and not weaker. And as for Supreme’s nature as a meta-narrative character “as strong as he needs to be”, this is referring to the different interpretations of Supreme. Rob Liefeld’s Supreme, the version in which Mean Supreme and thus Omni-Man scale to, is the mainline interpretation of Supreme. However, there is also a version of Supreme meant to parody Pre-Crisis Superman who is an entirely different character with far greater feats than Liefeld’s Supreme, that being Alan Moore’s interpretation of Supreme. That version itself is separated into two iterations, one a more “modernized” version, and the other a “flashback” version meant to parody classical Pre-Crisis Superman comics. It is quite clear that Liefeld’s version of Supreme, the one which Nolan was able to fight on par with, is inferior to that of Moore’s Supreme as is shown here:

So, we should have no issue scaling Nolan to the feats performed by Rob Liefeld’s iteration of Supreme, however we cannot fully scale Nolan to the composite Supreme mantle, thus, absolutely not to this feat of Suprema lifting a universe in a snowglobe.

“Hold on a minute! Isn’t Moore’s Suprema the one with the playing Kickball with stars statement and sewing together Black Holes? That must mean Nolan can’t scale to that, then!”

Liefeld’s version of Supreme (as Mean Supreme, the version Nolan fought) is also shown to be superior to that of Moore’s Suprema, the one with the feats of sewing together black holes and “playing kickball with stars”, which happened in the very same issue Nolan fought Mean Supreme in. So there is a quite clear difference there. Nolan undoubtedly scales to Moore Suprema’s casual showings.

Why is Bardock’s power level being put at 42,000? Didn’t he only just slightly near King Vegeta’s power before his death?

We briefly explained this above under the Frieza scaling section, but it’s a quite simple scaling chain. Bardock’s power level grew to that of 10,000 while his power level was still quickly rising, and during his final assault against Frieza, visibly grew in power enough to match an entire army of Frieza’s soldiers, something he was previously struggling with with an exceptionally smaller armada. This also visibly impressed Frieza to a point he considered him worthy enough to evenly match, something Frieza hardly would ever do unless he had a reason to do so:

This would reasonably put Bardock in his final assault against other characters capable of briefly impressing first form Frieza, that being Nail, whose power level is that of 42,000:

Thus, assuming Bardock’s Saiyan spirit pushed him to around this level during Bardock’s final assault against Frieza is entirely reasonable thanks to his already rapidly increasing power thanks to both his Zenkai Boosts and Saiyan Spirit boosts.

Universal+ Bardock?

We saved the craziest feat for last. As it turns out, there may be potentially arguments to scale Bardock to Universal+ to potentially 5-D, or Low Complex Multiversal. This may immediately seem like a completely ridiculous assertion and wank at first, and…..you’d be right.

…kind of?

There does exist a statement regarding Garlic Jr’s deadzone feat which describes it as being a Hyperspace

A hyperspace created through heightened ki, which sucks in everything.

According to current scientific theories regarding the subject, a hyperspace can be considered as a space with more than three dimensions. The three dimensions of our space being the X, Y, and Z axes respectively. A hyperspace would be a “W” axis in this case. This is how it is described in a paper published by Arif Ali of Jawaharlal nehru Technological University in India:

So taken in the most literal way possible, we can interpret Garlic Jr.’s Dead Zone as being a 4-dimensional hyperspace. Universal+, right? No problems since Garlic Jr.’s own power was responsible for its creation?

Well…as you can probably guess, there are a ton of problems with this. For one, a Hyperspace’s 4th dimensional axis is that of an additional spatial dimension rather than a temporal one, which is what would need to be encompassed in order to qualify as being a universal space-time continuum and thus being Universal+. Taking the Dead Zone as a “hyperspace” literally, it would simply just be a 4-dimensional object and nothing more. This does not necessarily mean anything to put this anywhere. Celestial objects in real life curve around a 4D axis, and wormholes in space are also 4D axes. Clearly, none of those objects are Universal sized space-time continuums, just objects which possess 4-dimensions. A “temporal dimension” is not inherently superior to a spatial dimension as it operates under a completely different framework of “dimensionality” than normal dimensions of space. Black Holes being 2D are still able to curve space-time in a 4D manner, and black holes clearly aren’t able to destroy the entire timeline.

Speaking of black holes, the Dead Zone’s properties being that of a black hole rather than an actual literal hyperspace is far more evident. While the word “hyperspace” is used, take a look at what is described afterwards:

It is a space which freezes even one's body and soul, and which lets not even a streak of light escape.

Sound familiar? What else do you know of that is a massive black circle in space which light is known to not escape?

If that is not enough to make it clear this is not a Universal+ scale attack, take a look at what various other descriptions of Garlic Jr’s. Dead Zone are referred to as:

A type of black hole, it sucks up everything in this world. Not even a single ray of light pierces through there, and you will be locked in darkness until you die.

The Dead Zone’s original attack name is translated as “Black Hole Wave”

Not a single ray of light can penetrate it! You will be locked inside this hell of darkness, both body and spirit, until you are dead!

Without a doubt whatsoever, the word “hyperspace” being used is clearly nothing but a buzzword, the Dead Zone in every single piece of media regarding it is described explicitly as being a black hole, and “hyperspace” itself even if taken literally would not necessitate Universal+ in any way whatsoever.

This also completely ignores the fact that if this were true, it would contradict the fact that Universe busting in Dragon Ball was saved for the literal final saga of Z with Majin Buu, and that a power level of 10,000 (greater than Garlic Jr’s.) is the minimum required to destroy a planet.

But yeah, this is a discovery we made and we thought it was at least worth bringing up, lol.

Verdicts

Team Omni-Man

Stats

Without his higher-end arguments, Nolan should be massively upscaling at least 10.7 foe, based off Tech Jacket’s armor’s 10x power boost, which was previously on par with the Planet Eater’s 1.7 foe Planet-Energy consumption feats. He should also massively upscale the 485 foe output of the Infinity Ray’s recoil, as well as Omnipotus being able to draw upon the energy of any and every star in the universe, which would be at minimum including Neutron Stars and comparable celestial bodies with 485 foe as its mass-energy equivalence. This is supported by how easily even ordinary, unnamed Viltrumites are able to deal with Tech Jacket even after his armor’s capabilities were boosted by 10x. As an estimate for Nolan’s peak, we can compare him to Liefeld’s Supreme, who Nolan fought nearly to a standstill while both were at their peak and ultimately coming out victorious. By extension, he would also scale to Liefeld’s Suprema, who Mean Supreme had just overpowered before fighting Nolan. Suprema is shown to be capable of sewing together Black Holes, as well as being stated to be able to play “kickball with Stars”. As an estimation for Suprema’s black hole feat, we can compare it to the energy of two black holes merging together , which releases about 32 Septillion Yottawatts of Energy, which is equal to roughly 32 KiloFoe. The version of Supreme Nolan fought was directly overpowering this version of Suprema as well, making this scaling very evident. The fight between Nolan and Supreme took place around shortly after the Viltrumite War arc, while Mark was recuperating from being infected with the Scourge Virus, roughly around Invincible #95. This would mean by the time Nolan becomes Emperor of Viltrum, and after the five-year timeskip after the Reboot storyline in which he leads Viltrum, Nolan would likely be massively upscaling this 32 KiloFoe value.

As for Nolan’s higher-end arguments, from scaling off of Omnipotus’ fully absorbed power, Nolan would be scaling anywhere from 886.1712 KiloFoe to 8.95 MegaQuettaFoe. Taking into account that Omnipotus’ full power is absorbed into his body to power himself and that Dinosaurus was still effortlessly able to bite Omnipotus’ head off whilst he was close to reaching his full power, and that Dinosaurus is completely inferior to Viltrumites Nolan is capable of harming such as Thragg, we can massively upscale Nolan from this value too. Again, as a reference for how much, we can scale Nolan off of the greater feats of Supreme, and thus by extension Suprema, who’s feat of lifting a globe containing the Universe reaches 156.091 MegaQuettaFoe, roughly 17 times more powerful than Omnipotus’ full power. For reasons above, Nolan would still be massively upscaling this after his five-year timeskip of ruling as Viltrum’s emperor. For the reasons we explained above in the Before the Verdicts section, these values should be taken heavily with a grain of salt, however should still be taken into consideration here.

In terms of speed, Nolan would be considerably upscaling from his 3.389 billion c trip to the planet Thraxa. Due to the fact Nolan was severely depressed and fatigued on his week-long trip to Thraxa, constantly taking rest stops for potentially hours on end to reflect on his life on Earth, and also not even looking for Thraxa in particular, we can logically conclude that this value is far from Nolan’s peak. To get an estimation, we can upscale Nolan massively from Mark’s trip from Thraxa to Talescria which he took to frantically look back for Eve and his newly born daughter, Terra. We can assume this trip took a considerably short timeframe, anywhere from 30 minutes at most and 3 seconds as a high-end. Thraxa and Talescria, being located in separate star systems in the Virgo Supercluster, Mark’s journey would have required a speed anywhere from 5.782 to 578.2 trillion c. Viltrumites who Nolan downscales from, in particular Grand Regent Thragg, is capable of casually catching up to, grabbing, and brutalizing Mark while he is flying away as fast he possibly can in fear for his life. This means we can scale Nolan’s peak greatly above Mark’s during the time of the Viltrumite War up to the Reboot Arc, where Nolan had five additional years of experience as Viltrum’s emperor. Again, we can also use Liefeld’s Supreme as a measuring stick for Nolan’s true peak speed. Liefeld’s Supreme is able to make a full-circle trip around the entire Universe, across every single Planet and civilization in the Universe, and lived amongst every single one of their civilizations before returning back to Earth in what was five years in Earth’s timeframe. Taking this in the most literal way possible, Supreme would have had to have been traversing the Universe in those five years at speeds equivalent to 36.4 Septenvigintillion c. That’s 3 with 85 zeros. To put into perspective how unimaginably fast that is, the shortest amount of time ever measured in a practical way is an attosecond. If you perceived every second of time instead as an attosecond, you would experience the amount of time equivalent to 31 billion years in the time it would take for 1 second in real time to pass in your timeframe. You’d experience the entire lifespan of the Earth’s sun nearly 4 times before a second goes by in real time.

This is how slow time would go in an attosecond. Supreme’s speed feat? 916 trigintillionth of a second. That’s 9 with 95 zeros, and would also be 916 quattuorvigintillionth of an attosecond. Even to a person perceiving time in an attosecond, they would appear even more frozen and immobile to a person with Supreme’s level of speed than normal people would appear to said person with an attosecond time frame. Astrophysicists currently estimate the Universe’s final stars to be extinguished in around 100 trillion years. If you were to perceive every second in as long of a timeframe as this is, you would live out the entire beginning and end of the universe’s lifespan times before even an attosecond passes by in real time. Needless to say, Nolan is quite clearly far faster regardless of if you scale him to Supreme or not, by an absolute minimum of 34 times by the latter, but that will be discussed in the conclusion.

Arsenal and Abilities

In terms of this category, it is quite clear Omni-Man is tremendously outclassed. Nolan’s telepathic earpiece would provide a massive advantage when it comes to Bardock’s future vision, which based off of the earpiece’s experience with characters with similar telepathic abilities as the Kanassan species (like Unopans), Nolan’s earpiece should likely clue him in on Bardock’s future vision ability. Outside of this, Nolan’s main powers are largely nothing of note outside of the standard Superman “flying brick” powers (with the exception of heat vision, obviously). In comparison to Bardock, Bardock also largely has the same powers, but in addition, possesses a variety of different long-ranged techniques with his Ki which would prove trouble for Nolan throughout the fight. Bardock’s saiyan spirit would also likely make him stronger as the fight progresses, potentially enough to match Nolan in strength even with his high-end arguments. With how many long-ranged options are at Bardock’s disposal, Nolan’s primary style of hand to hand combat would leave him open to many of Bardock’s ki powered attacks, which of course, clearly scale to his physical combat prowess. Nolan’s ultimately generic flying brick powers simply will not suffice against someone with that and more at their disposal. There’s not really much else to say since this matchup is far from a hax-based fight.

Tertiary Factors

This may possibly be the most important factor in this matchup. Outside of both having overall comparable attack potency with their mid-end arguments, Nolan being undoubtedly far faster than Bardock regardless of what speed end you use, the most important advantage Nolan has here is his Battle IQ and experience, which utterly dwarfs that of Bardock’s by a considerably large margin. Bardock and most of the Saiyan species always relied on their animalistic instinct when it comes to fighting rather than formal training (unless of course, your name is Kakarot or Vegeta). While the Planet Vegeta’s 10x gravity in comparison to a Planet like Earth would offer a tremendously enhanced capacity of stamina and endurance over, Bardock has never experienced any sort of pain tolerance or brutality anywhere close to what Viltrumites are subjected to since birth. Even if each of Bardock’s blows were actually enough to punch a hole through Omni-Man like this, it’s unlikely this would actually stop Omni-Man from fighting on. We can compare the stat gap here to that of Invincible’s rematch with Conquest during around the Viltrumite War arc. Conquest, being demonstrably stronger, is able to land mortally wounding blows onto Mark’s body, literally disemboweling him viciously. Yet Mark was still able to come out victorious. How?

That’s how.

Mark took the fight to space, forcing his hands on Conquest’s throat until he suffocated. Mark knew he was weaker and Conquest even confirms this here, but Mark…simply just did not let go. He continued to keep his hands on his throat, even after Conquest had just punched a hole straight through his stomach. It did not stop Mark from continuing to suffocate him until he was forced to stop breathing and die.

Keep in mind, Mark and Conquest should still be relative to each other in terms of lifting strength. As we’ve shown, though, Nolan clearly has far superior lifting strength capabilities over Bardock, by approximately over 28,000 to potentially 124 million times, to be exact. This will be discussed later on. Not just this, but given the fact Saiyans are completely unable to breathe within the deeper vacuums of space, at least for a prolonged period of time, Nolan employing a similar tactic on Bardock would prove undoubtedly much more fatal, and given the absurdly large speed gap, Bardock would not be able to perceive Nolan at all while Nolan flies him into space in a similar vein Mark did to Conquest. These arguments will be discussed more in-depth shortly.

So, in short, Nolan’s main win-cons outside of potentially being much stronger are having far better experience and Battle IQ, a way to reasonably decipher Bardock’s weaknesses as the fight goes on, enough pain tolerance to stand up to Bardock even if Bardock had a considerable strength edge, and being able to take the fight to space and forcibly suffocate Bardock until he draws his last breath just like Mark did to Conquest.

Stats

Looking at Bardock’s true potential peak by the time right before his death, we can scale Bardock up to roughly 4.2x that of King Vegeta’s planet string feat. Taking into account that Planets in Dragon Ball are considerably more massive than in real life, this makes King Vegeta’s feat potentially worth 6.702 KiloFoe, and thus Bardock’s base form 28.1484 KiloFoe. With even more Zenkai Boosts taken into account and the 50x power boost of Super Saiyan afterwards, this would push Bardock up to a power level roughly equal to that of roughly 2,100,000, which is over twice that of Frieza’s second form, and roughly 1.4 times more powerful than Garlic Jr. after his gigantification, who obtained a power level of “many tens of times”, which pushed him to a power level of 1,500,000. Garlic Jr. after his gigantification was able to destroy the lookout, which contained two realms with astronomical distances containing stars in their skies, which would clock in at around 67.55 ExaFoe. Bardock in Super Saiyan would thus be 94.57 ExaFoe, which would put Bardock at over 36.37 times stronger than Nolan by scaling to Omnipotus.

However, due to how Omnipotus’ 2.6 ExaFoe value is almost insignificant in comparison to Dinosaurus, who effortlessly one-shotted him, and Dinosaurus’ teeth were shattered upon making contact with Thragg, who Nolan made bleed, we can likely massively upscale Nolan from the 2.6 ExaFoe value to make this gap far smaller. But with how stat differences as small as just 2 times are treated in Dragon Ball, this could reasonably make Bardock able to one-shot Nolan in Super Saiyan….assuming he gets a hit in, which is highly unlikely given the fact that Space Racer’s Infinity Ray, which is also capable of one-shotting Nolan, is unable to ever land a hit on him or any other skilled Viltrumite for that matter due to a Viltrumite’s superior speed allowing them to easily dodge it. Bardock would be a similar case. But regardless, Bardock’s potential stat advantage in Super Saiyan should not be ignored.

It should go without saying, for reasons stated above, Bardock is quite massively outclassed when it comes to speed, to the point his potential attack potency edge in Super Saiyan would be irrelevant since Nolan would simply dodge all of his attacks and bull rush him into space in character.

As well as in terms of lifting strength, Bardock is also quite outclassed, even if we were to tremendously high-ball Bardock’s edge in lifting strength over Kid Gohan’s by the time of the late Namek Saga to early Frieza saga. This leaves Bardock very open to being restrained, and could not do anything about breaking free if Nolan were to blitz him into space at blinding speed.

There isn’t much else to say that isn’t stated above in Nolan’s favor. To sum it up, Bardock’s main advantage is potentially being much stronger and reasonably being able to one-shot based off of Dragon Ball (and Invincible to a lesser extent)’s portrayals of stat gaps even as miniscule as 2 times. Outside of that, though, Nolan takes pretty much every other stat outside of durability (which is equal to attack potency 99% of the time).

Arsenal and Abilities

As stated above, Bardock being far less of a “flying brick” in comparison to Nolan and having a far wider array of ranged attack options makes it possible that Nolan may end up being caught by one of them thanks to his exclusively hand-to-hand combat style, and taking the stat gap we stated above into account, would one-shot him. Bardock’s ki blasts would also likely cover Nolan’s body, including his weak points in the brain and heart which are beyond healing. Since Ki blasts also display heat properties as well, it could also exploit Nolan’s smart atoms weakness when it comes to high temperatures. His future vision would likely also be able to predict the outcome of the fight or even see the future when it comes to Nolan’s fate and his family, but his future vision is not precognitive enough to immediately predict Nolan’s attacks, let alone excuse the speed gap.

Tertiary Factors

Based on how Bardock’s power level rapidly increased from the point of him and his crew’s assault on Kanassa from “nearing 10,000” to being able to amplify himself thanks to his Saiyan Spirit in relation to seeing the future of the Saiyan race, on a level to which he could take on Frieza’s entire army to the point of impressing him and thus implying a potentially 4.2x stat gap, as well as being able to potentially defeat Frieza in alternate timelines without any sort of statistics boosts to the point of just one-shotting him, this could all mean that Bardock’s power throughout the fight with Nolan would increase astronomically, to the point of, even if we were to use extremely high-end feats for Nolan like Suprema lifting the universe in a snowglobe, matching or even surpassing Nolan’s strength to the point of one-shotting, in the exact same manner he did against Frieza. This ignores the already likely edge Bardock has in strength over Omni-Man under Super Saiyan.

Conclusion

Omni-Man

No, I'm fine--I'm--you have to listen to me. You're going to lead our people to great heights. You're going to show them your ways... your compassion... you're going to... you're... Mark. You changed me. Change them.

Advantages:

Far stronger with higher-end arguments, even with Super Saiyan taken into account.
Comparable to Super Saiyan in strength stats even without high-ends.
Far faster by an unimaginable degree, even without high-end speed arguments.
Significantly more experienced, battle-hardened, and more knowledgeable in most manners of combat and vastly more intelligent in general.
Far greater endurance and slightly superior stamina
Speed and endurance edge is more than capable of outlasting Super Saiyan even with relative strength stats
Able to live in space just fine for up to weeks on end. Would likely eventually figure out Bardock’s inability to fully breathe in space and exploit it, knocking him out of Super Saiyan and leaving him incapacitated long enough to take the win.
Capable of hearing Bardock’s inner thoughts, monologues, and arguably even his ability to see the future with his telepathic earpiece.

Disadvantages:

Slightly weaker with Bardock’s high-end arguments in Super Saiyan, without his own high-end arguments with scaling to Omnipotus and Supreme.
Is primarily a close-quarters, hand to hand fighter, leaving him consistently open to Bardock’s variety of ki attacks which are almost all long-range projectiles.
Bardock’s ki blasts could target his entire body, including his weak points in the brain and heart which he cannot come back from.
Much more weighed down and less agile in his flight speed in comparison to Bardock’s.
Has arguably no answer to Bardock’s ability to see the future.
Much less of a quick-thinker in comparison to Bardock, who relies more on intuition and primitive battle instinct, in contrast with Nolan’s more nuanced fighting style.
Has no answer to Saiyan spirit or other passive Ki abilities in Bardock’s arsenal.
Bardock’s ki blasts could arguably exploit Smart Atom’s vulnerability to heat, which caps out at 6,000 degrees fahrenheit, and kills Viltrumites on a subatomic level.

Bardock

Maybe it's because I'm constantly fighting, destroying, that I'd actually like to save something for once. Especially someone who is judged to be a lower-class warrior... like my Kakarot.

Advantages:

Slightly stronger in Super Saiyan with his higher-end arguments than Nolan without his own higher-end arguments.
Capable of attacking Nolan at a distance with his Ki attacks. Nolan primarily relies on getting close to his targets in order to battle them in hand-to-hand combat like all Viltrumites in the series, consistently leaving him open and at a disadvantage to Bardock’s variety of ranged attacks. His ki blasts could also potentially target Smart Atom’s weakness to heat.
Could target Nolan’s weak points in his brain or heart with his ki blasts by them covering most of, if not his entire body. Nolan of course cannot come back from his brain or heart being damaged. Viltrumites’ internal organs are implied to be vulnerable and far less durable than their outer body is, as well.
Far more agile and fast-paced in his movement in comparison to Nolan.
Possesses enough intuition and battle instinct to match Nolan’s greater experience and knowledge in all manners of combat.
Could potentially see a possible outcome of the fight with his future vision, allowing him to potentially avoid Nolan’s win conditions.
Possesses far more variety in his abilities in comparison to Nolan. His Saiyan spirit, spirit energy, and Zenkai boosts could potentially allow Bardock to grow stronger as the fight goes on to match or even surpass Nolan’s overall strength edge with his higher-end arguments.
Would be able to locate Nolan trying to hide or flee thanks to his Saiyan senses.
If Nolan were to somehow get a hold of the Scourge Virus and use it here, Saiyan’s resistances to otherworldly viruses capable of killing off entire species such as the supervirus produced by the Extinction Bomb, mean the Scourge Virus would likely have no effect on Bardock or any other Saiyan.

Disadvantages:

Far weaker even in Super Saiyan with Nolan’s higher-end arguments.
Nolan’s superior strength over Bardock in base form with or without higher-end arguments would likely cause Bardock’s scouter to shatter.
Far less knowledgeable in combat and much less intelligent overall than Nolan. Significantly less experienced as well.
Nolan’s brutality and general methods in battle would mean he would likely resort to ripping Bardock’s tail off whilst he’s in the Great Ape form, resulting in him unable to transform into it ever again. Nolan’s telepathic earpiece would also likely clue him in on Bardock’s tactics of waiting for the full moon to transform into the Great Ape. Nolan would also likely have no qualms in simply just destroying the moon in whatever Planet they are battling in.
Tremendously slower than Nolan in all possible regards, even without Nolan’s higher-end arguments. This likely means that Super Saiyan would be outlasted by Nolan’s greater speed, as well as endurance, stamina, and likelihood to keep away from Bardock’s attacks.
Has no answer to Nolan simply taking him to deep space where he is unable to breathe, allowing Nolan to possibly suffocate him there and leave him in deep space long enough for him to take the win.
With how even slight strength edges are treated in both Invincible and Dragon Ball’s stories, Bardock would possibly kill himself just by trying to attack Nolan at all, in a similar vein to Thragg’s half-breed Viltrumite children when attempting to attack him.

At first glance, this matchup may appear like an easy win for Bardock given the more clearly destructive scale that Dragon Ball operates on. However, after going through an extensive dive into the power scale of the Invincible universe, it becomes clear this is far from being the case. Bardock certainly has an advantage when it comes down to arsenal and abilities, as he has far more techniques and abilities than simply punching and flying, which is largely what Viltrumites are known for. Bardock’s ki attacks and other long-ranged options could certainly stall the fight in Bardock’s favor, but inevitably, Nolan’s undoubtedly far superior battle experience, experience in general, as well as comparable or even superior stamina would lead to him gaining the upper hand in due time.

It should also be noted that Viltrumites going against characters who have a far greater variety of superpowers is kinda their whole deal. Viltrumites regularly use their far superior strength, speed, and battle experience over the Invincible universe’s variety of superpowered characters to gain an upper hand too overwhelming for characters not on par with Viltrumites to stand up to. This is evident with the Invincible War story arc, as well as the fact that there was no hero on Earth that could have survived if Thragg and those 37 surviving Viltrumites decided to destroy the Earth. Even Space Racer’s Infinity Ray, which is known to be able to one-shot even Viltrumites, cannot accurately land a hit on more hardened Viltrumites such as Thragg, who simply dodges the Infinity Ray without a second thought. Even Nolan himself has had an encounter with Space Racer in the past, and in a similar fashion, Space Racer was unable to land his powerful ray on our Viltrumite hero. Nolan in the fight implemented a tactic in order to make sure that Space Racer’s gun could not return back to him as it normally would. He did this by trapping Space Racer under a massive pile of rocks with his gun hidden away from his location to make sure he couldn’t simply blast through the rocks, making Space Racer unable to escape and unable to ever access his gun again (until he was recruited for the Viltrumite War, of course). Similarly, in order to combat the threat that the powerful Rognarr species had on the Viltrum Empire during his time under their cause, Nolan had proposed the idea to block the Rognarr’s species’ homeworld’s sun in order to both block out their power and freeze them indefinitely (again, until they were used in the Viltrumite War). It’s highly likely Nolan himself was the one to discover these weaknesses, as is his implication in his novels as well as his words to Allen.

This gives Nolan a very sizable advantage in Battle IQ over Bardock and most Saiyans in general. This means that, as the fight goes on, Nolan would more than likely be able to figure out Bardock, and thus the Saiyan species’, weaknesses and be able to thoroughly exploit them in ways Bardock can’t fully anticipate. While Nolan of course wouldn’t have prior knowledge of Bardock under standard Death Battle and VS rules in general, Nolan’s telepathic earpiece would absolutely be able to clue him in on Bardock’s thoughts, and thus his history and ability to see the future. This brings us to a possible advantage for Bardock in this regard, and that of course, is that very ability to see the future. The issue with this is, this likely would not be very useful in a fight such as this. Bardock’s future vision never allowed him to anticipate events which were immediately about to happen in literal seconds, but rather certain outcomes and events anywhere from hours to years into the future. This means that Bardock’s future vision would not aid him in anticipating or predicting Omni-Man’s attacks, outside of cluing him in on the outcome of the fight. If Bardock’s future vision foresees Nolan coming out victorious, Bardock would be more inclined to fight with all he has, in a similar fashion to his final gambit against the Frieza Force in a last bid attempt to “change the future”. If Bardock’s future vision foresees himself coming out victorious, then it is far less likely for him to be fighting seriously against Nolan than the latter is. In either scenario, Nolan’s telepathic earpiece would be a hard counter to Bardock’s future sight ability as stated above. It may seem like a stretch to assume that Nolan’s earpiece would allow him to become aware of Bardock being able to see the future, but based off of how the earpiece is able to detect the inner-most thoughts of characters such as Allen, who’s communication operates solely on telepathic communication, as well as even other Viltrumites, the Saiyan race and thus Bardock would likely be no exception.

In fact, Bardock’s future sight ability is a psionic power given to him by a being whose species is known for their telekinetic abilities, almost in an identical fashion to Allen and Unopans. Furthermore, it is also unlikely that, even if Bardock was able to anticipate Nolan’s attacks with his future vision, that would not make up for the immensely large speed gap between the two, which brings us to possibly the most important factor in this debate; stats.

Strength is without a doubt the most contested point when it comes to stats between the two. Again, at first glance Bardock scaling to King Vegeta’s planet string feat would seemingly be far above what Viltrumites and thus Nolan have shown in the Invincible series. But however, as explained above, this is not entirely the case. There have been many very direct and casual Planet busting feats, statements, and implications throughout Invincible’s extended universe and even in the main series as well, not at all including the infamous Viltrum destruction feat. As elaborated on above in the Before the Verdicts category, Thaedus stating that he, along with Nolan and Mark would die upon making impact with Viltrum’s core when given the proper context does not at all contest Invincible characters being Planetary and above, and even if it were, it would not discredit the energy of the explosion itself nor the fact that the explicitly Planetary and above level strength of Viltrumites both before and after the event of Viltrum’s destruction exists and would contradict that plot point.

Before the Viltrumite War even began, Nolan and Allen were planning to have moved the sun disk which blocked the Rognarr’s planet’s sun, which itself would already produce far more kinetic and potential energy than what is required to overcome a Planet’s gravitational binding energy, but are also implied to be tremendously above the Talescrian weaponry which blew the sun disk to pieces. As shown above, this would come out to roughly 12.3 Quettatons of TNT. It is clear this is far from Nolan’s peak, however. A still early into his career Invincible was able to survive a blast from comparably strong Talescrian weaponry with absolutely no damage whatsoever, and this is the version of Mark who is still overall inferior to veteran Viltrumites. We can also upscale Nolan massively from Tech Jacket and by extension, the Planet Eater’s energy consumption of planets, which comes out anywhere from 12.8 Quettatons to 1.7 Foe. Tech Jacket, even after having a 10x power boost to his suit, is still far inferior to even average Viltrumites. We can by extension scale Nolan above even stronger beings, like the Space Racer, we can scale Nolan to partially. Specifically, the Infinity Ray’s recoil effect, which as explained above, Nolan is clearly superior to as is shown by Viltrum’s destruction. Space Racer’s Infinity Ray can cause stars to be destroyed via its recoil effect, which gets up to 485 foe

Finally, there is the powerful Omnipotus, who, while his body’s powers were nearly restored to where they once were, was still significantly inferior to Dinosaurus, who Mark is capable of killing whilst not wanting to. Dinosaurus’ teeth are also immediately shattered upon trying to bite Viltrumites who Nolan would downscale from, in particular Grand Regent Thragg. Omnipotus, as we’ve explained above, empowers his body witn the energy of the mass he destroys. In this case, that would be entire star systems. At minimum, this would mean Omnipotus’ body would be coursing with 886.17 KiloFoe. We can back this scaling up through Liefeld’s iteration of Supreme which Nolan would likely scale to, as Mean Supreme is a no-holds-barred version of Liefeld’s Supreme. Before Nolan and Supreme’s fight, Supreme had just overpowered Suprema, and even in Liefeld’s iteration, is capable of “playing kickball with stars” and “sewing black holes together”, the latter would likely release up to 32 Septillion Yottawatts, or roughly 32 KiloFoe by doing so, and this is far from Suprema’s best. This would make Omnipotus’ minimum 886.17 KiloFoe value entirely consistent with how much Suprema’s peak would be upscaling from 32 KiloFoe.

At another end, we can assume the cosmic energy flowing within Omnipotus’ body is that of his entire home universe. This would equate to roughly 4e+69 joules by comparing it to our own observable universe. Even if we assumed this process took a total of 10 years for Omnipotus to accomplish, the energy Omnipotus would have been powered with per second would be equal to over 12 novemdecillion joules per second. That’s enough power to destroy the entirety of our own Solar System over 4 quadrillion times over. Omnipotus by the time of battling the Guardians of the Globe had already been nearly fully powered by said energy. In either case, Omni-Man already has a considerable edge in strength over Bardock in base form, however Super Saiyan is a bit more of a complicated case.

Of course, things become different once Super Saiyan is taken into account. Due to Super Saiyan being that of a 50x multiplier in all physical capabilities, Bardock’s power level would then be that of 2,100,000, which is more than twice that of Second Form Frieza. In turn, Second Form Frieza would be superior to that of the hypothetical strength of a Kaioken x10 Goku during the Namek saga. We know that Goku’s base power level during the Namek Saga is that of 90,000, making his Kaioken x10 boost his power level up to 900,000, which of course, would be below Second Form Frieza and thus Super Saiyan Bardock’s power level. With all of this considered, we should be able to scale Bardock in Super Saiyan during late-game Namek Saga scaling. Given that power level and multipliers are known to be applicable to speed scaling, this would put Bardock massively above the likes of early Namek Saga Goku as explained above, who would scale up to 2.348 trillion c. This would be fairly consistent with Frieza’s first form, who already has a power level of 530,000, being able to “no doubt” move as fast as his inferior spaceships, which gets around 42.9 billion c. Of course, with multipliers taken into account, which we know should be applicable to speed statistics, Bardock’s 1,000,000 power level in Super Saiyan would surpass Goku’s by approximately 23.3 times, pushing Bardock’s speed in Super Saiyan to up to 54.785 trillion c. This of course, still is tremendously slower than Nolan’s high-end speed arguments, and not at all by a small margin. Given that the 2.348 trillion c calculation for Goku’s spaceship flying to Namek and back is a high-end through scaling to another character via theoreticals, then we should reasonably allow Nolan high-end scaling from a feat performed by another character, that being Supreme. Supreme’s high-end feat of traveling across the Universe and living on every civilization over 5 years gets up to 36.4 septenvigintillion c, which is an astronomically large gap of over 1.8 trevigintillion times; 1 with 72 zeros. To put into perspective just how unimaginably large of a gap that actually is, the difference in size between a grain of sand and the entire Milky Way Galaxy is about 500 duovigintillion times. The gap in speed between Bardock and Nolan is more than 2 and a half times bigger than that gap. As an even more direct comparison for the speed statistic, The gap in speed between a snail and the speed of light would be 81 novemdecillion times smaller than the gap in speed between Nolan and Bardock. It should go without saying that, with a speed gap that massive, there is no conceivable way that Bardock would ever be landing a hit on Nolan in any way imaginable.

The speed gap without high-ends isn’t much better. Scaling Bardock in Super Saiyan to around 3.9x that of First Form Frieza’s 42.9 billion c speed value, this would place Bardock at around 169.981 billion c. This would still be below the value of Mark’s short trip from Thraxa to Talescria, which with an absolute maximum of a 3 hour timeframe, would still require a speed of 5.782 Trillion c, which is still a gap of over 34.01 times. It would be likely much bigger than this still, as we know that Nolan’s far greater battle experience and additional 5 years worth of upscaling allowing him to downscale from Thragg would massively upscale this 5.782 Trillion c value. As a minimum timeframe of just 3 seconds, this would push Mark’s trip from Thraxa to Talescria up to 578.2 Trillion c, which is a gap upwards of 3,401 times. In either case, a gap at minimum of over 34 times in speed, while clearly nowhere near the value of Nolan scaling to Supreme’s 36.4 septenvigintillion c feat, is still very far from a reasonable gap for Bardock to land any sort of blow on Nolan, even if Bardock had the ability to one-shot Nolan here in Super Saiyan.

Lifting Strength was also never a Saiyan’s strong suit. Meanwhile, Viltrumites have shown to be far more impressive in terms of what they can lift and restrain. Nolan and Allen individually were planning on moving the Sun Disk blocking the Rognarr’s sun, which as determined above in the strength section for Nolan, would weigh anywhere from 6.3594687e+25 to 1.3990522e+29 kilograms. Dividing it amongst both Nolan and Allen for assuming about equal contribution for both, this comes out to roughly 3.18e+25 kilograms of force that Nolan would be contributing to. Even if we were to assume that Bardock is over 1,000,000 times more powerful than Kid Gohan resisting the gravitational pull of the dead zone, this would still give Nolan an edge in lifting strength by over 28,000 times. When taking the high-end of the Sun Disk feat into account, this value becomes a difference of over 124 million times. With either end you use, Nolan would be more than strong enough to keep Bardock restrained, even if we were to assume Bardock did have a massive attack potency edge even in base. With Nolan’s unfathomably greater edge in speed, Bardock would not even be able to perceive the speed he would be being flown around space at while Nolan has him in a hold. This could leave Bardock open to Nolan doing things such as throwing him inside of a star, or simply just abandoning him in the vacuum of space far enough away from any Planet’s atmosphere to ensure Bardock would suffocate there. It may feel like a stretch to assume that Nolan would have all of a Saiyan’s weaknesses down to a tee to the point he can reliably implement them into a fight, but Nolan’s past experiences of thinking quickly on his feet during high-stakes battles like this prove otherwise. During his fight with the Space Racer, Nolan was able to triumph over the wielder of the Infinity Ray, despite the Infinity Ray being able to one-shot him, by using his far superior speed to simply dodge the Infinity Ray’s blasts, and discovered that he could stop Space Racer’s gun from coming back to him by trapping him under rocks. This is something that there is no way that Nolan could have known before the fight took place, as Nolan himself states that “no one could come close enough to observe the Infinity Ray for themself” when documenting his knowledge of the Space Racer in his novels.

Even if we assumed that Bardock, even in base form, was powerful enough to one-shot Nolan with every single one of his punches, ki blasts, or anything, Nolan’s unimaginably superior speed advantage would make it impossible for Bardock to ever land a blow on him, in the same way the Space Racer’s Infinity Ray has never managed to land a hit on Viltrumites on Nolan’s caliber of experience. With his telepathic earpiece, exceptional stamina to allow him to continue fighting for days on end, it would only be a matter of time before Nolan discovered that Saiyans lack the ability to breathe in space for long periods of time, implement this battle tactic in the same way he’s done against alien beings shown to be comparable or potentially superior to the strength Viltrumites in his past. His knowledge on the Rognarr species gaining power from their sun could also likely mean that Nolan would be able to figure out that the full moon allows Bardock to transform into a great ape, and would likely just damage or destroy the moon in a similar fashion to Mark during his crossover with The Tick.

As is now abundantly clear, the speed gap here is simply too large for Bardock to really do anything, regardless of if Bardock is actually stronger or not. We can ignore all of the context, all of the pieces of evidence pointing towards interstellar power scaling when it comes to Viltrumites, we can actually lowball Nolan down to Multi-Continental level, but that still does not make up for the astronomical edge in speed Nolan has here, which was ultimately the key factor when it came to determining this matchup’s outcome. This puts Bardock in-between a rock and a hard place, and brings us to our final factor; their attack potency.

We can back this scaling up through Moore’s iteration of Supreme which Nolan would likely scale to, as Mean Supreme is a no-holds-barred version of Liefeld’s Supreme. Before Nolan and Supreme’s fight, Supreme had just overpowered Suprema, and even in Moore’s iteration, is capable of “playing kickball with stars” and “sewing black holes together”, the latter would likely release up to 32 Septillion Yottawatts, or roughly 32 KiloFoe by doing so, and this is far from Suprema’s best.

We can scale Bardock in base form’s power level by the time of his final assault against Frieza to 42,000. Bardock upon being hit with Dodoria’s ki mouth blast likely would have had to have had some kind of a Zenkai boost to push him here based off of Saiyan Spirit, as explained above. This means we can scale Bardock’s base to roughly 2x that of King Vegeta’s planet string feat, which is roughly 1.987 KiloQuettatons of TNT. However, Bardock would likely scale even higher than this, as Dodoria’s power level of 22,000 surpasses that of Vegeta’s by 4,000 more. Vegeta by the time of the Saiyan Saga already had more than enough power to destroy the Earth, which we know is considerably larger in Dragon Ball than it is in real life.

We also know that the size of Super Dragon Balls, which are astronomically massive on a cosmic scale, are roughly equivalent in size to Planets in Dragon Ball. Furthermore, we also know that a power level of at least 10,000 is required in order to bust Planets in Dragon Ball. Based off of this, we can scale Bardock’s strength in base form after all of his Zenkai Boosts at least to that of two times of Dragon Ball’s Earth’s gravitational binding energy, which is around 2.234 KiloFoe, making a power level of 42,000 at least 9.3828 KiloFoe. As a high-end, we can even assume that King Vegeta’s planetary string feat was 3 times the 2.234 KiloFoe value of standard planets in Dragon Ball, which is a somewhat reasonable one as Earth in Dragon Ball is considered a “tiny planet”, and the Planet Vegeta is an exceedingly bigger one as two stars orbit it. Taking this high-end into account, Bardock’s strength in base form would be upscaling at least 4.2x of 6.702 KiloFoe, or 28.1484 KiloFoe in total. This, however, is still exceedingly weaker than even the non high-end arguments for Nolan’s strength, which is anywhere from 32 KiloFoe to 886.17 KiloFoe. In the weakest scenario, only scaling Nolan to Liefeld’s Supreme/Suprema’s black hole sewing feats, Nolan would be around over 1.13x stronger than Bardock’s base form. However, it’s clear Nolan’s peak is far from equal to that of Suprema’s casual feats, meaning that Nolan massively upscales the 32 KiloFoe value of Suprema after the five year timeskip, as well as by downscaling Thragg, would be massively upscaling from Omnipotus’ near full power, which is that of anywhere from 886.17 KiloFoe to 126.75 PetaFoe. This makes Nolan anywhere from 31.4 to over 4 quadrillion times stronger than Bardock’s base form

As you can probably guess, that is far from a small gap in strength. And in the context of Dragon Ball, even just a gap of 2 times is enough to shift a fight into being completely one-sided in the person 2 times stronger’s favor. With a gap of at least 31.4 times, there is no doubt that Bardock in base form would be completely and utterly outmatched against Nolan to an even greater degree than he was against Frieza. In theory, Nolan’s power level would be 1,318,800 if we were to multiply Bardock’s endgame 42,000 power level by 31.4x, which is around 2.4x stronger than Frieza’s first form. While to a lesser extent, Invincible’s universe acknowledges that a gap in strength of a considerable amount like this also makes a fight completely one-sided. It’s entirely possible that Bardock going to strike Nolan at all would result in Bardock’s arm being shattered into a bloody mess, as has happened to characters considerably weaker than Viltrumites or other similarly powerful characters in Invincible.

And then Super Saiyan comes in. As a 50x power boost, this would clearly give Bardock a massive AP edge over Omni-Man who was only 1.13x stronger in base, right? Well, yes but actually no. If we were to assume Nolan’s peak was actually only on par with Supreme’s 32 KiloFoe scaling from Suprema’s black hole sewing feat, ignoring all of the upscaling between Supreme and Suprema and Nolan’s 5 more years of upscaling as Viltrum’s ruler, then yes, Bardock would have an edge in attack potency by over 41.8 times. We can enhance this value even more by scaling Super Saiyan Bardock by 2 times above First Form Frieza’s feat of destroying the Planet Vegeta, which gets up to 2.286 MegaFoe, or 9.6 MegaFoe for Bardock. This would be consistent with the 50x multiplier over the 28.14 KiloFoe value we determined above, which would reach about 1.4 MegaFoe based off of those feats, which is only slightly below this value, and given the fact Bardock’s Saiyan Spirit would likely propel him higher than a 42,000 power level during his final assault against Frieza’s forces, his power level being greater than 42,000 would also support this potency rating even more. We can go even higher than this, though. Due to Bardock likely becoming even stronger before unlocking Super Saiyan, his 50x multiplier putting his power level at 2,100,000 would put him at over 1.4x stronger than Garlic Jr. after his gigantification, whose power level was 1,500,000. Garlic Jr. in his Gigantification state during the Garlic Junior saga destroyed the lookout, which contains two spaces with night skies in them, which comes out to a yield of over 67.55 ExaFoe. This is relatively consistent with similar feats during this time period, such as Frieza annihilating the stars behind Namek, which yields 67.4 ExaFoe. With Super Saiyan Bardock being roughly 1.4x stronger than Garlic Jr. in his gigantified form, this would push Super Saiyan Bardock up to 94.57 ExaFoe. Similarly, we can scale Nolan up to 2.6 ExaFoe via Omnipotus’ draining of the universe over the course of several months during his return to Earth. This would make Bardock in Super Saiyan 36 times stronger than Nolan. Certainly enough to one-shot Nolan in a single Ki Blast, but again, as has been determined above, that would be assuming it actually hits Bardock.

The difference in strength between the Infinity Ray and Nolan was potentially that of infinite times, if we take the statements of the Infinity Ray having infinite energy capacity to it literally, so AP differences of this caliber aren’t anything new to Nolan. This is consistent with Nolan’s many fights with Grand Regent Thragg, who is clearly far, far superior to Nolan and nearly every other character in the entire Invincible universe. Thragg being able to effortlessly crush Thaedus’ skull, along with the portrayal with the gap between his Viltrumite children and himself, suggests that the difference between Thragg and normal Viltrumites could potentially be that of up to a similar amount.

This would not at all be inconsistent with Thragg’s portrayal throughout the series. Mark, while depowered completely due to being infected with the Scourge Virus, shattered his arm into a bloody mess upon trying to punch Allen, and similar things have happened to characters such as Dinosaurus when they tried to attack Grand Regent Thragg. This would reasonably suggest Thragg’s power difference from Dinosaurus is potentially the same or similar to that of a depowered Mark between Allen. This will be important shortly.

Additionally, Mark needed a power boost of an astronomically large amount from Atom Eve in order to stand even a fighting chance against Thragg during the climax of the series, and still after that required Robot’s armors to finally put an end to Thragg, and even that was barely enough. Thragg beforehand was able to effortlessly rip Mark in half before Eve’s revival boosted his strength by the degree stated above. Finally, Thragg himself while clearly not fighting seriously effortlessly disemboweled Nolan and Mark at the same time during the Viltrumite War, and in the aftermath, Thragg states that there is nothing Mark, Nolan, or any of the Coalition of Planets could do to stop Thragg and the remaining Viltrumites from destroying the Earth.

While Nolan was ultimately killed by Thragg in a single hand motion, Nolan has been able to hold his own against Thragg many times throughout the series and even right before his death, to a far greater degree than nearly any character in the Invincible universe has against the Grand Regent. Keep in mind, this was still against a character who was faster than Nolan, not a character who would practically be frozen in time in comparison to him like Bardock would be. Nolan even confirms this himself on his deathbed, as he states he couldn’t manage to “fully dodge” Thragg’s attack enough, as it damaged his heart.

Against a character who would also at most be hundreds of times more powerful than him like Bardock, Nolan keeping away, playing the waiting game, and employing similar battle tactics to what he and others have done against characters of a greater strength caliber to him in the past would be enough to inevitably overcome Bardock’s superior strength in Super Saiyan. We can even compare this outcome to that of Mark’s rematch against Conquest. Conquest was clearly far stronger than Mark in both instances they fought, yet Mark was able to take the victory over Conquest in his second fight against him where he was even stronger than before, by taking him into deep space, suffocating him, and leaving him for dead. There’s no reason to assume Nolan would not do the same here to Bardock, given the fact Nolan’s battle experience is thousands of years ahead of Marks, who had only been Invincible for around a year or two during both of his fights against Conquest.

Now this is assuming Bardock does have the edge in Attack Potency. However, as we have displayed above, there are arguments for this not being the case, even with Bardock’s 50x multiplier in Super Saiyan. With a potential multiplier of at least 7.5x, Nolan’s fights with Thragg prove that fighting against someone immensely beyond his caliber of strength is not at all foreign to him.

This ultimately puts Bardock in-between a rock and a hard place. While you can definitely argue Bardock being stronger than Omni-Man even in base form, this simply does not excuse the astronomically massive speed and experience gap between the two. In the end, the father of Goku may have appeared like the stronger fighter over the father of Invincible, however, Omni-Man’s comparable or potentially superior strength, far superior speed and experience, massively superior pain tolerance and endurance to physical superior foes, and far more ruthless and unhinged battle techniques were just too much for Bardock’s Saiyan spirit to keep up with forever. We’re just Saiyan’, try as he Viltru-might, Bardock’s will was simply stopped cold in its tracks by the nigh Omni-potent strength of the Great Nowl’Ahn.

The winner is Omni-Man.
